We knew that Chris Selim was an experienced and skillful mixer with lots of knowledge.
But we also know that there is so much more behind the art of mixing.
We had a vision for the song we shared with Chris, but at the same time we gave him freedom to express his own art, and he did an amazing job! The entire process was very professional. Good communication was the key for us and with Chris we couldn’t ask for more. We highly recommend other bands to work with Chris Selim.

Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Don’t be afraid to be creative and think outside the box. In the end when it’s sounds good, there are no rules.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Producing, arranging, recording and mixing 3 different albums at the moment. And producing radio sweepers on top of that.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital is way more accessible and practical than analog gear as far as mixing and editing are concerned. Mixing both technology during recording and mixing could give good results. However, I think what makes the difference is not whatever it’s analog or digital but the person using it. I heard a lot of music that was produced entirely in the box that sounded better that analog stuff. The guy behind the wheel made the difference.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: That I’m happy when they’re happy!
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: To be touch with music all the time.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Always work with someone who as a good vibe and understand what you’re all about.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: A keyboard controller, one microphone, a sound card, a Macbook Pro and some good headphones.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I’ve been doing this for the last 12 years. I first went to Sound Design and production school in Drummondville Qc. Then a friend of mine who is a French Christian Artist ask me to produce is first ‘’live’’ album which I did successfully, calls kept coming in from other artists of the same market and I’ve been doing this on a full time basis since then.
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: The album from Peggy Polito ‘’Enmène-moi’’ from France. I produced, arranged and mixed this album entirely online without meeting the artist. Me being in Canada and Peggy in France made Skype our my best friend… The style of music was like French Folk meets New Orleans which was challenging for me to produce. The end result was amazing!
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I produce and mix all sorts of musical styles since I did a lot of Christian French music… It goes from Rock, pop and jazz, instrumental, electro…
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I'm good on reading people, makes it easier to give the client what he wants.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: With my musician background and experience on the field, what I can bring to a entire project or mix is not only the technical side of it but also an artistic perspective which helps a lot when working on a song.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My studio setup consist of one control room, a vocal booth and a main recording room. I work with Dynaudio’s M2 as monitors and work with Cubase Pro 8 and Protools 10 for DAW’s. Lynx Aurora16 (16-channel 24-bit/192kHz A/D D/A Converter) Vintech Audio 473 Pre Amps Drawmer 1960 Tube compressor & Pre Amp Presonus M80 Pre Amp Presonus Central Station Plus I mainly mix in the box using Waves and UAD plugins and more.

A: Matt Bellamy, Rick Ruben, Butch Vig, Trent Reznor, Jack Joseph Puig, Jack White, Chris Lord Alge to name a few

A: - I work a lot on full music productions as a producer, recording and mix engineer. - Music arrangements... - Mixing music that I didn’t record or produced. - Radio sweepers and jingles as well.
