RE-PLXY is not only a dynamic, talented, and passionate engineer but he also truly cares about the projects that he pours himself into. Working with him is an investment, it is an experience that will take your work further, and as a Poet/Storyteller/Spoken Word Artist it gave me the unique flavor that I hadn’t heard out of anyone else in my lane. If you are weighing it out, stop hesitating.

I gotta say.. it took me 10 yrs to trust someone else with my vocals as an artist. But Ryan was so transparent that I had to take a chance. My 1st solo album was mixed and Mastered by MixedbyReplxy and I couldn't have chosen a better producer to bring my project to life. He just gets it. I came ready, and obviously, he came ready because 20/20 Clearer Vision was right on time for my career. Whether you're an amateur or vet, Ryan has the best sound originated from Grand Rapids, MI. Much love, my brother. We did that! "FLIGHT BRIEFING PT 2" is still a hit!

Ryan is Next Level, and I don't say this about just anyone. Not only is Ryan able to focus in on a specific Artist to work with them on completing their entire project, but he is adaptable and able to work with any genre of music. On top of all of this he is also able to sing himself
( very well ) , in case you ever need a male backup vocalist.
He is by far one of the best mixers I have ever had the pleasure of working with.

Interview with RE-PLXY

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I just recent did a mix for Alex Silver, and while I was recording the artist (SENUA) for the track creativity just went crazy, I was only suppose to record and send the vocals, but I got so inspired that I asked him to just let me take care of the mix, he agreed and we were both blown away with the end result. The sheer excitement from him being the tracks producer, really gave me a rewarding feeling and we both made the artist sound amazing. its a solid body of work and I'm exited for its release so I can share it! I very proud of how things came together, and how involved we all were without making each other feel like one was stepping over the other (so to speak)

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: I'm currently working on a project for one of my favorite artists, Moia Bri. Look out for a project called "HONEY JAY" coming soon!

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: Alex Silver! Ive connected with him personally and he's incredible with music production. the guys is a genius.

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: whichever does the job. These days most modern software does an incredible job of emulating analog gear. so it really just comes down to taste, and what sounds/ feels good.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: I will absolutely do my best to make sure that you are always satisfied with what you get from me.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: I absolutely love the relationship building that comes along with this line of work. You can't put a price on solid relationships, and great credibility among your peers.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: are you good at this? can you tell I'm nervous? where can I hear some of your work? how are you this good? where did you come from? how long have you been doing this? can I take you with me? usually in that order.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: That I make beats

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: What are your past experiences with engineers? Can you show me some of your previous work? What is your goal, for this project? Are is your Budget ready? when can we start? also: "are you open to having those vocals tuned?"

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Come with an open mind, trust the process, and be assured that you're working with someone who cares about your project just as much as you do. :)

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: If were talking about audio gear, i don't think that would really help me in a dessert, but I would bring a large blade, a survival lighter, rope, a canteen, and a u87 mic. that last one might not be very helpful, but at least I'll have my coveted microphone.

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: My career path has always been in Audio Engineering, I love this type of work, and it never gets old for me.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: Clean, wavy, and captivating

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: I would love to work with Timbaland, he was my favorite producer growing up and I have great respect and admiration for what he's contributed to the music game.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Approach every project free of your own ego, there's always something to learn, from people of all kind.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: Pop, RnB, Hip Hop, Dance Hall, afro beats, and INDIE music

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: My strongest skill lays with my ability to become creatively in sync with whoever I work with. even If I don't personally care for the song I'm working on, I can still find something to appreciate about it, and deliver a solid end product.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: I bring top notch quality to any song, as well as good creative energy. every song is a chance to be expressive and creative even for an engineer. I think more like a producer, so I always come with stylistic input for each song I work on, most of my client have been very happy about that. I also bring my own voice to the table, if the artist desires. typically for backing vocals.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: I am as engaging as possible, when it comes to projects that I work on, I always keep the client in the loop, so they know what's going on, and can feel assured that they're getting what they want. my favorite clients are the ones that let me be free and creative, but I'll never assert what I want over what the client desires. I will however, push for idea, if I believe its for the best possible outcome, but they have the final say. I start every session off the same way, firstly by identify the Key of the song as well as the BPM, so that things are accurately line to the grid and in proper key incase I need to do vocal tuning. pretty much prep work, so things on my end run smoothly.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: I run a home studio, powered by an Apollo x6. I use an Avalon 737, and an LA-610 preamps, C-414, Neumann TLM 103, Neumann M147 and a Lauten Audio Atlantis (Mics) for vocal tracking. I use Apogee PSX-100SE word clock for extra support when dealing with larger sessions. Dynaudio Bm5a, are Lead Monitors, and Dynaudio LYD 5s are my "B" set, and both are connected to a KRK MK2 subwoofer, so I can accurately monitor Low frequencies. I have a combination of Steven slate Digital, Waves and Plugin Alliance software incorporated into my workflow, for mixing.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: Im heavily inspired by Timbaland, 40, Scott storch, Pascal "Claps" Guyan

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: I do a lot of vocal tuning, recording, mixing and mastering for clients of different Genres.
