Interview with Thomas "Raprezent" Schmid
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: clean file naming
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: urban contemporary music (sounds like urban Hip-Hop & Rap music, Pop & RnB)
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: creativity, objectivity & a lot of listening experience
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: Freiheit (the song you can listen here on soundbetter). It was a longtime production period, but I never lost any objectivity and creativity within the work. I was a lot. A little bit of the recording engineer and executive producer, but mostly the vocal-producer and -editor, mixing and mastering engineer.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: we make it final and radio ready!
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I studied Audio Engineering at the SAE Institute Munich. After that I worked there as a supervisor and lecturer in the audio department. And now I am part of the Bayerischer Rundfunk team.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Goldlink. I think he's very cool.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: be objecitve and open minded in every way!
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: basic and "rock'n roll". Consumer friendly studio environment at home with Mac, interfaces, speaker and software. When I work at organic beats there are two analog consoles with tannoy speaker and several analog and digital outboard gear.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Everything from Support, Recording, Editing, Producing, Mixing, Mastering and Quality Control. But mostly I do Vocal-Editing and final Mixing & Mastering.
