Interview with MayTrix

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: My Memories EP that came out last year. I took all of my old tracks that I never released and re-mixed them, and made them much better than they were. I got a lot of great feedback for how well the EP was.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: A new track

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: No not that I can think of, but later in time I'll have some recommendations.

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Digital, I don't know why just always like it.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: Always receive a High Quality track.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: That I don't have a "Boss". Also that I can make my own hours!

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: If I can go for a lower price. I usually respond with no, but sometimes I'll reconsider.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: That it's easy. But it is actually pretty difficult at sometimes.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: If they're interested in hiring me again. And if they would recommend to anything in the music industry they know.

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: You must have good patience. It's sometimes difficult to make something from scratch when you have producers block. Just give the producer some room to breathe, and you will have a HD track in no time.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: Laptop with a lot of ram and space. Clean headphones. Different plugins, and a MIDI keyboard. That's all I really need.

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: Music Production of course. I have always had interest in music production since my father used to be a musician. I start about 7 years go and have been impressed with how much I have learned and change over those years.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: I would say I don't really have a "Style". But my genre is mostly melodic, and dark based.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: Virtual Riot and Grey. Virtual Riot has this amazing skill with changing different genre's with every track. Not to mention his Sound Design skills are off the charts. Grey because they have changed the EDM scene with a little bit of pop. Their Mixing skills are super clean it's insane!

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Always and I mean always create relationships with other fellow Artists, Producers and promoters. They will help you in the long run.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: Melodic Dubstep mostly since it's what i work on the most as a Artist. But I do work on Hip-Hop/Rap for my cousin and friends who rap.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: Piano. I am a self taught pianist. Even though I couldn't battle someone in this skill, I always find a way to make a nice structured chord.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: Depends on the Genre, If it's Melodic Dubstep, than atmosphere, piano, strings and heavily melodic structured chords. If it's for a Rap Beat then a hard hitting kick,808, vox and bouncy hihats.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: I'll start on an Idea for at least a few hours. Once I have a general Idea, I'll start adding more to it with minor details. Then through the days I'll have a finished demo of what the client wants. If he/she is satisfied with what I have come up with. Then I will finish shortly!

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: Nothing to crazy, I believe having a BIG setup doesn't make you the better producer. It's what you're comfortable with using.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: They're a ton, but mostly Virtual Riot, Illenium, Foria, Killabyte, and Said The Sky

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: Mostly Rap/Hip-Hop Beats at the moment. Would love to start doing Melodic Dubstep for my clients.
