Working with Otto is the easiest part of my creative process. His responses are instantaneous and his turnaround time is extraordinary. He is more than willing to not only do exactly as you request, but also provide outstanding insight which for me has proven to be the difference between a regular mix and an industry quality mix. Awesome Job!

What questions do you ask prospective clients?
If a music fan, or buyer, is trying to decide whether to buy your record or another, what is that other record? What groups would you see opening a show for you (meaning they share a similar audience). How do you describe yourself - musically - and what personality or emotion is dominant in your work?
What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
30 years experience is INVALUABLE. I bring so many intangibles from all the years of working on everything from demos to major label records, from DMX to Waylon Jennings, I got this, I can help you be you.
What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
I began as a musician playing in clubs. In 1983 I took a job at a recording studio and I've never left the recording business since.
How would you describe your style?
I don't have a style that I notice, except to say that I prefer things dry and clear unless they need to be otherwise.
Which artist would you like to work with and why?
Lady Gaga because I love working with talented singers. Mickey Shiloh because I love her voice. The Mowgli's because I love how much fun they sound like they're having and capturing that kind of energy is exciting. Bonnie Raitt, Vince Gill, Adele, Prince, Liz Pair, Jillette Johnson... there are too many to mention.
Can you share one music production tip?
When you find a record that sounds amazing to you, on the radio, in your car, at a restaurant, be sure to buy that record and listen to it on the same system where you make your records. Always make sure that you are "aiming" at the right sound as you begin to create your new recordings.
What type of music do you usually work on?
Pop, R&B, Country, Rock, Folk, Adult Contemporary. Very little Metal these days, very little Jazz.
Tell us about your studio setup.
My primary vocal mics are a Nuemann U-47 and a U-87. I cut through my Avalon or Summit preamps and compressors. Obvioulsy when tracking a whole band the mic list becomes extensive and the outboard compressors are numerous, including Urie 1178s, DBX 165As, LA-4s, DBX 160s and others. I monitor on Genelecs, Tannoys and Yamaha NS10s and I record into ProTools.
What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
There are too many to mention. I love the challenge of huge pop production and the space in classic country tracks. So many producers and artists have created incredible work that has inspired my efforts that it is impossible to single out a few.
Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
Most common work includes producing, recording and mixing from the start to the finish. Most common on-line work is mixing.
