Working with Husks has been great, so far we have made one song together and I’ve been ecstatic with the results. His style of mixing hip-hop and cinematic score music is what sets him apart from other producers. He put my thoughts and vision into this project and made it real. He’s easy to work with and makes working in the studio feel effortless. We definitely will be working together again!

Husks goes above and beyond to get your vision across. He’s not only great at making beats, but also at the communication that’s crucial to getting the song to be exactly how you want. He’s very collaborative, so there’s no pressure at all when working with him. If you don’t like something, then tell him and he’ll gladly fix it. There was no request I had that he didn’t do. 10/10 would recommend.

My team and I are so pleased with every aspect of the work Husks did for us. He was incredibly quick with communication and receivables. We have worked with a lot of producers/mixers in the past, and we have never had someone be so quick to respond with quality edits.
He was awesome at taking feedback and when we asked for some of his insight, he willingly gave it (and it was great). Five stars all around! We will definitely be working together again! Thanks.

Another great job by Connor. He is very quick and responsive and really brings life to the songs.

Connor did four mixes for me, all of which had a dark, evolving industrial & ambient sound. He was able to understand what I was looking for in each track, and added his own unique flair and energy to each mix. He was quick, responsive, and treated my tracks with a human touch. If you're looking for sinister production or mixing for your song I highly recommend Connor!

Connor is very good at his job and it is a great pleasure to work with him. His mix brought a lot of energy to the song. I highly recommend him and I am looking forward to our next project.
Quiet son worked with my budget and made me feel like my voice was heard! He also made sure the song we worked on was absolutely perfect! He never tried to change my sound or music! 10/10 highly recommend!
Connor is a great instrumentalist, a consummate professional and always consistent with timely followup and project completion. He provides great feedback while regarding and honoring the artists vision.
I have worked with Connor on several occasions and have nothing but great things to say regarding his professionalism, attention to detail, innovative sound design, and super positive energy. His tracks sound immense and have so much style that they'll no doubt inspire you to bring your A-game. He will also deliver on the smallest minutiae of detail you throw at him. Needless to say you will be glad you hired him.
Interview with Quiet Son
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: That no matter what, I will always help you get your song to a place that you are happy with and that you can trust in my professionalism, responsiveness, and quality of work. I also promise that you will be able to get an incredible production at an affordable price.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: My favorite thing is getting to play with sounds, connecting and meeting amazingly talented & creative people, and helping artists bring their dreams to life!
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Q: Are your rates flexible? A: Yes! Especially if I really like the song. I always try to work within an artist's budget. Q: Do you have bundle discounts for multiple songs/full projects? A: Absolutely, I'm always happy to discuss discounts for full projects and have frequently done this. Q: Can I call you/do you do in-person or virtual sessions? A: Yes, in fact I encourage face-to-face communication! Q: How many free revisions do I get? A: For production I typically allow 3 free revisions after we have the track in a place that you are generally happy with (eg. minor tweaks). For mixing, I offer 3 free revisions.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: Typical questions include: - What artists inspired you/inspired this song? - What is the story behind the song, and how can I help incorporate that story into the sonics of the production? - What is your budget/deadline? - Have you worked with a producer before?
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been learning production since I was 16, starting when I interned at a local recording studio in Philadelphia. I eventually studied music production and arts entrepreneurship in college and have been making professional productions for artists (as well as for my own artist project) since 2014. During this time, I've also worked in the industry at Universal Music Group and YouTube Music to hone my business skills.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Trust your ear above all else!
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I am comfortable working in a range of genres, but I specialize in dark & dreamy pop, trap, alt-pop, and electronic. Artists I'm inspired by and inform my sound are Zhu, FKA twigs, Moses Sumney, Kelela, Jack Garrett, James Blake, the Weeknd and Grimes.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Typically, I like to set up an initial session with the artist (virtual if necessary) to get to know them, chat through their vision and their influences so that I can get a sense of what they're looking for in the production. I also usually ask for a reference playlist of songs that they're inspired by to hone in on the particular sounds they like. I love having a long-term working relationship with artists that I work with, so it's super important to me that I build trust with them, remain flexible, and consistently deliver high-quality production. Throughout the production process, I am very responsive - whether over email, phone call or text, and check in with the artist with each new version to make sure we're heading in the right direction. As a producer, I believe it is my job to make the song exactly the way the artist wants, so I remain open (and encourage) direct, specific feedback so that I can make sure the song is exactly what makes the artist feel that "wow" feeling.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I currently work out of my home studio in Brooklyn, NY. I use Logic Pro X as my daw, and use instruments including a Novation Launch key 49, a Roli Seaboard, electric and acoustic guitars, and electric bass. I use Yamaha HS-8 studio monitors and sub.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I'm deeply inspired by artists like FKA twigs and Moses Sumney who are artists that strive for uniqueness, and to push the boundaries while still keeping pop sensibilities. The way they combine their dreamy, acoustic elements with alt-electronic sounds is what I strive for.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: The most common work I do is music production/beat making, but I also do mixing and mastering as well. I love working collaboratively with artists to bring their vision for a song to life!
