I'm a producer, composer, and mix engineer. Credits include Mary J. Blige, Natalie Cole, Lil Wayne, VH-1s Black Ink Crew, Shameless on Showtime, and 2018 Winter Olympics.
I started out as a recording engineer in large studios, which resulted in lots of experience working with major artists, and I eventually made the transition to composing and producing projects. Have worked with Mary J Blige, Natalie Cole, Wyclef, Lil Wayne, and others, plus lots of TV placements.
I combine my studio experience with my live playing ability on guitar, bass, and keyboards to create a production sound that blends modern pop with live instruments to bring elements of soul, funk, folk, r&b, and hip hop into the mixture. I like to think of it as a pop sound with soul.
My approach to working with artists starts with studying and finding their unique style, or the specific feel they're trying to achieve, and really trying to lock into it in the most effective way possible. I really try to understand how the artist's vocal character and style will be complimented by a particular musical approach. I want them to feel like we captured their signature sound. I also put a lot of focus on trying to achieve the strongest possible song and mix quality.
These creative details are important, and when beginning a project, I also think it's really important to establish working details and the process upfront so that everyone is on the same page.
Overall, I love producing music, and my ultimate goal is to build long term working relationships with artists.
