An industry-level male pop/R&B singer, songwriter, and music producer.
Hey,
I am Mason Blu, a professional singer, writer, and producer based in London, UK. I started my musical journey at 6 years of age and I have been fortunate enough to work with various people and traveled the world thanks to music. My previous experience includes working with Virginia Records (Sony Music) whom I was signed to after achieving the position of runner-up in X Factor Bulgaria 2011. This led me to work with clients such as Coca-Cola and perform at two of their Happy Energy Tours alongside Mark Ronson, Conor Maynard, Alexandra Stan, and many others.
I am currently playing in different bands here in the UK, working with the House Gospel Choir as well as working with other artists on original material that I write/produce. Some of my previous singing credits include Lewis Capaldi (Brit Awards 2023), Sam Ryder (BBC1), Rudimental, SAULT ( AIR, AIIR). I am skilled in pop, R&B, soul music as well as vocal arranging, production, and writing. Finally, I am writing/producing songs in the sync realm so this is something I can help you with too.
I pride myself on being super flexible, welcoming feedback, providing results quickly, and ensuring you get value.
Please get in touch with me today and let's discuss your next project!
Yours truly,
Mason

Interview with Mason Blu
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I recently worked on a ballad song that included recordings of some musicians from various countries from across the world and it was a very comprehensive production process. I am so grateful and happy to have been part of the process.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I am working on a few Moombahton tracks with some female artists, who I am super excited about.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: To give them the best quality possible.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: How quickly I can deliver a particular track. I answer: 'However quick do you want it to be?'
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: my Komplete midi keyboard, cajon, solar panel, laptop, headphones
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Familiar with a touch of exotic.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Vic Cuccia, he is an amazing mix/master engineer.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Hmm, I 'd say a combination of both as analog makes everything sound more organic, but digital adds the contemporary touch to it.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: The variety. I love music for it is a different experience all the time.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That I need to have one main skill.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What do they want to achieve with the particular project, what's the timeline, what they inspirations are, what type of emotion they want to convey with it.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Talk to me, talk to me, talk to me. It is all about communication and transparency. At the end of the day I want you to be happy with the service I provide you with. I want to serve you in the best possible way. ...Oh, and don't be afraid to give feedback.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: It all started when I was 3 and my nana took me to my first concert, which put the spark in me and made me wanna do music. At the age of 6, I joined a vocal group in my hometown in Bulgaria and I was with the guys for around 12 yrs. I then started singing solo when 10 and at 14 I decided to audition for X factor Bulgaria. Eventually I got signed to Virginia Records (Sony Music) and was with the label for the following 3 years. Throughout that time I performed at different events, one of the best ones being the Coca-Cola Happy Energy Tour alongside artists such as Mark Ronson, Conor Maynard, Antonia and others. I got to work with top-notch producers and writers that furthered my musical abilities and made me wanna start writing and producing my music and one for other people. I have been writing and producing for around 5 years now.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: The Weeknd. He is not a conventional-sounding artist, he has been one of my biggest inspirations as a singer, writer and producer. The content of his tracks is just so fresh and innovative.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Group your instruments in busses.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Pop/RnB
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: The combination of all my skills.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: my musical background has allowed me to become versatile in what I do. Having performed with a vocal collective for so long has developed my ear to the extent that I hear harmonies more easily or know how to bring the emotion out of a vocal if I happen to be guiding a singer whilst recording. Production wise, I like adding quirky textures to tracks that would not normally be there, but would make you notice them.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: That's a hard one, sometimes I would get an idea for a song whilst travelling on the tube and will try to hum it to my phone. Other times I would have an idea for groove in my mind and would start making the beat that matches that vibe. Sometimes I just simply sit in front of the piano and start playing chords and making music which I then turn into a production.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I use Logic Pro x when producing, it is literally my music baby. My go-to plugins are normally Serum, Massive, Valhalla ones, Waves and loads of side chain by Kickstart.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Max Martin, Ian Kirkpatrick, Sia, Julia Michaels
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: It really depends. Someone once asked me what my main 'thing' was to which I replied I didn't have one as I had equal love for producing, singing and writing. So my work is a combination of all of these.
