My name is Javier Figueira and I'm a drummer and certified sound engineer. I do drums, recording, mixes and mastering.
I'm not a new drummer to the scene, however, I need some experience. I would love to gather some experience from this place, called SoundBetter. I'm an experienced audio-guru. But my dream is to walk on big stages with my drumkit and play some incredible shows. I might need some help with this, this is why I need you to say the things I need to do if I offer you some free test tracks. That's why I'm offering them for free, to learn and keep learning. My dream is to fill that stage with some Real Time Drums.
- live drum tracks with the feeling for that song
- live feeling and good sounding drumkit (Pearl EX, Amedia hats/ride, Meinl Byzance Custom Trash Crash, Pearl OH1350 Sign. snare drum).
I also provide some mixing. Doing this on my sweet KRK's and a finished mixed and master Paper I'm ready to do this. I won't provide mastering. This is why; I am convinced that a mixer never can do his own mastering. But if you need YOUR track mastered, let me know. I'll see what I can do.
- Mixing of your whole song.
- Good teamwork

Interview with Javier Figueira
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Playing drum tracks live and in studio's for songwriters and bands.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Aaron Spears, Tony Royster Jr and Jojo Mayer.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I'm recording at home. Miced out my Kick, Snare, Toms, Floortom and I use two overheads (XY).
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: First, I listen to the song. I'm trying to get what the song is telling me and what the feel is. Then, I put the song on, close my eyes and while I record it, I try to play what the song asks. With that first try-out take, I take the demands and wishes from the client and I try to blend it in. I record another take with those wishes, and that is my first sketch. I check how that first sketch sounds and feels and I move on. Again record another take, more 'cleaner' and try to get everything perfectly recorded, untill I'm satisfied, which I'm not quick haha.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Life, energy and feel. Drums are so important for the energy flow of a song! Think of build-ups, drops, breakdowns etc. The flow of a song is so determining!
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Being perfectionistic
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Nowadays I work mostly on Hiphop, Rap, R&B. Mostly slower tempos, because it gives room for a lot of cool breaks.
