I'm a big picture musician. Session guitarist, composer, and producer. My work has appeared on FOX, CBS, HBO, MTV, VH1, Bravo, and many more. I bring my production expertise to all my guitar session work. I specialize in pop/rock, modern country, gospel/CCM, and ambient textures. I'm university educated in music and have real-world experience.
Intro:
For 9 years I've been a full-time musician in Nashville. My strongest genres are pop/rock, country, CCM/gospel, singer/songwriter, and ambient.
A lot of the work I do is producing music for TV/film, and as a session guitarist I bring the skillset and ears of a producer to each project.
Services:
My primary service is acoustic and electric guitar tracks. I can do anything from a single guitar track to full layers of guitars and auxiliary instruments to your project (aux options include mandolin, dobro, lap steel, ukulele, and banjo).
For electric guitar tracks, I can deliver direct tracks for re-amping along with the amped versions. Just let me know when placing your order.
Experience:
I've played guitar on over 700 client projects as well as most of the 900+ works in my BMI sync catalog. In addition, I have 2 instrumental projects I've released as an artist.
I have a University degree in music plus nearly 2 decades of professional experience in the music industry.
Process:
When you book me for a session, simply send your song in its current state to me along with any creative direction, chart, tempo, etc. Artist/song references can be helpful too.
Once we're on the same page with what your song requires, I'll get started. I always send a rough mix demo when I've completed my parts for review. 2 rounds of revisions are included in my rate.
Contact me through the green button above and let's get to work.

I returned to him for electric guitars on the song he'd earlier done acoustic guitars for. His style and his feel go so well with my song! Totally in love with his arrangement.

Came to Andrew with a rough track and a rough guitar idea. I asked him to write a more creative guitar line then I could. Got a bunch of great recordings back in no time that will make the track shine. He's a true professional. Thanks Andrew!

The ultimate professional, takes pride in doing a great job and delivering a high-quality product in a timely manner, will definitely work with again!
Andrew is my secret weapon to blow my clients' minds. I've hired Andrew for a LOT of projects by now, and he's crushed it every time.
On a full-length country project, he delivered the works. On a glam metal single, he went full Steve Vai. For unplugged projects, he elevates things with classy dobro.
No matter the project, he toggles between showmanship and restraint as needed. When revisions are needed, they're quick & easy. Every song has character and the solos sparkle with personality & skill. Communication is clear & delivery is quick. I love it!
I have worked with Andrew in the studio physically and through the web. Top-notch musician and an even better guy. You won't go wrong hiring him!
Andrew is a top notch guitarist. His attention to intonation and timing is on par with the legends that perform on every hit record coming out of Nashville. It's clear that he's a student of guitar, and he's constantly evolving and developing as a player. On top of his well developed craft, he's a great hang in the studio. I honestly can't think of a situation where Andrew shouldn't be a first call session player.
Andrew and I worked together on several projects now and he always deliver high quality guitars. He's also quick and work with deadlines as a true professional. We'll continue work together.
Needless to say how true professional Andrew is. He delivered the job on time with great creativity and recording quality. He put wings to the project. Thank you. See you next time.
Interview with Andrew Timothy
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both! I love vintage guitars and amps (I have a 1965 Fender Deluxe Reverb!), but I also love the convenience and flexibility of new digital guitar technology. I've been using a Fractal Audio Axe FX 2 for the past 3 years live and in the studio with amazing results. We're living in the new golden age of guitar gear.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I'll deliver professional quality guitar tracks with great tone that fit the mood of the song. If you're not happy, I'm not happy.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Getting to do what I love for a living.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: A lot of people don't understand that being a full-time musician is hard work around the clock. More discipline is required than most people think.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What type of guitar sounds are you going for? Do you have any reference tracks or artists you'd like me to check out?
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Trust your ears, not your eyes.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I'm more or less a pop/rock player with a background in classical and jazz studies. Most of my sessions are in the pop, country, singer/songwriter, CCM/worship and rock genres.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Creating guitar parts that support the overall message and dynamic of a song. I've learned over the years to think like a producer when arranging and layering guitar tracks.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Life. Tone. Support. Textures.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Once my chart is written out and the session is set up, I'll start building guitar tracks. I typically start with the choruses, then work my way through the rest of the song...verses, intro/outro, solo sections, etc. I do a little mixing as I go, mainly panning and light EQ. This helps me keep the bigger picture in mind and makes it easier to hear if more tracks are needed to fill out the arrangement.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: My favorite session players are (in no particular order) Michael Landau, Tim Pierce, Tom Bukovac, Brent Mason, Allen Hinds, Kenny Greenberg, Michael Thompson, Paul Jackson Jr
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Acoustic and eletric guitar overdubs.
