Mike Wilson

Mike Wilson on SoundBetter

Hello! My name is Mike Wilson, I am a professional recording, mixing/mastering engineer and songwriter. Over the years I have worked in many of LA's top studios, as well as being the proud owner of my own commercial studio. I take my talent and creativity into every session, and fit in as needed.

Whether your song is in need of simple tweaks and a second set of ears, or it needs to be reworked from the ground up, I am here to lend my services. The majority of my work revolves around mixing for remote clients, however, for artist in LA I am alway available to take on a project, in person. Between my own studio, or any of the studios I have an established relationship with, we can create a plan that works best for your schedule, budget and vibe.

I'd love to hear about your project. Click the 'Contact' button above to get in touch.

Interview with Mike Wilson

  1. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  2. A: A major portion of my day to day work is detailed recording/vocal arrangement as well as mixing records. I am big on mixing/mastering records that need help. Records that are not necessarily recorded in the best studio or have the best vocal performances are something that I am confident in my ability to mend and produce a final product that can stand next to top quality records.

  3. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  4. A: I always like to know what a clients goals and expectations are. The way I approach each project is driven by the needs of the artist. There are a million ways to mix a record and its all up to interpretation and the need of the client.

  5. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  6. A: Any engineer can hit "record" or mix a record. I like to take a hands on approach to each record I work on. Being thorough with directing a singer through every verse, line, and word, doing as little or as much vocal comping as needed to create the most consistent, on par performance possible.

  7. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  8. A: Mixing, editing and straight forward business.
