Hello! My name is Mike Wilson, I am a professional recording, mixing/mastering engineer and songwriter. Over the years I have worked in many of LA's top studios, as well as being the proud owner of my own commercial studio. I take my talent and creativity into every session, and fit in as needed.
Whether your song is in need of simple tweaks and a second set of ears, or it needs to be reworked from the ground up, I am here to lend my services. The majority of my work revolves around mixing for remote clients, however, for artist in LA I am alway available to take on a project, in person. Between my own studio, or any of the studios I have an established relationship with, we can create a plan that works best for your schedule, budget and vibe.
I'd love to hear about your project. Click the 'Contact' button above to get in touch.
Interview with Mike Wilson
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Mixing, editing and straight forward business.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Any engineer can hit "record" or mix a record. I like to take a hands on approach to each record I work on. Being thorough with directing a singer through every verse, line, and word, doing as little or as much vocal comping as needed to create the most consistent, on par performance possible.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I always like to know what a clients goals and expectations are. The way I approach each project is driven by the needs of the artist. There are a million ways to mix a record and its all up to interpretation and the need of the client.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: A major portion of my day to day work is detailed recording/vocal arrangement as well as mixing records. I am big on mixing/mastering records that need help. Records that are not necessarily recorded in the best studio or have the best vocal performances are something that I am confident in my ability to mend and produce a final product that can stand next to top quality records.
