Interview with Viktor Hansen
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Audio recording, editing, mixing, and mastering. I also am a session guitarist.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Eyal Levi, Misha Mansoor, Mark Lewis, Jason Suecof, Jeff Loomis, etc.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a basic setup; Macbook Pro with a Focusrite Saffire Pro 14, sm57 microphone, Peavey 6505+ guitar amplifier 100w tube head and 4x12 speaker cabinet, Pro Tools 10/11, Logic 10, Superior Drummer 2.0, misc plugins.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I like to do a very basic and quick run down of what is needed/asked for to engineer the audio into a form that will wow the client. Once the basic run down is done, I go in depth and fine tune plug ins.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring clarity, depth, and punch with my masters. On guitar, I can spice up an idea, help compose. With my mixes, I make sure every instrument is heard as clearly as possible so the listener gets the best possible representation of your piece of music.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Guitar, and editing.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Heavy Metal. Typically Death Metal, Tech Death, Deathcore, etc.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Just listen.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Eyal Levi, I believe being his side engineer would open up a lot of windows in my head, and create a new swarm of ideas.
