Interview with Audio Mastering Service

  1. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  2. A: The perspective of a neutral outsider who can hear the strengths and weaknesses of a mix and has the expertise to bring out its best elements.

  3. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  4. A: If I can't make your tracks sound better, then I haven't done my job properly and you don't pay!

  5. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  6. A: In 2015 I mastered a couple of tracks for the Eurovision Song Contest. The prospect of having 200 million people listening to my work was incredible.

  7. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  8. A: It is essential to get the tonal balance of a mix right before sending it to a mastering engineer.

  9. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  10. A: Don't compress the hell out of your mix, as it will make it sound boring and lifeless.

  11. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  12. A: I don't specialise in any genre of music. I enjoy the variety of work that comes along.

  13. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  14. A: That a bad mix can be fixed with good mastering.

  15. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  16. A: I have been running my own mastering studio since 2009.

  17. Q: How would you describe your style?

  18. A: My goal as a mastering engineer is to improve the sound of my clients' work and not to put my own stamp on it.
