Interview with E
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Machine Head. I love the timbral intricacy that every section of their music offers. Really mellow and intimate, to stadium sized rock show.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Don't lie to your recording artist. Always be critical (and polite!) of what you're recording and if something sounds off just say it.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That it's not needed. Proper recording techniques and knowledge, good mixing practices; that's indispensable in music.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I get to contribute to the most beautiful art form in the world.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I ask to skype or come to a practice so I can listen to the music first. I think it's important to be able to describe your style using three bands and have you fall right between them. My first track is always free, it's a "I can take your music seriously and respect it" - Then we go from there...
