Vonn on SoundBetter

Hi Everyone! My name is Vonn, out of Los Angeles California. I currently am a recording artist, songwriter, and do demo work for writers looking to do something with their music. I am currently writing for industry moguls and creatives who produce and write for known artists such as T.I, Mya, Faith Evans, Rihanna, and Snoop Dogg.

I like to help those looking for that missing piece in their creative process. Not only do I create melodies for those struggling with connecting to a beat they really like, but I also write lyrics for those with the voice and idea looking to bring it to life. I have recently had the privilege to lay down harmonies and melodies on T.I's upcoming project as well as have a mentor like James Fauntleroy who I have befriended in LA and critiques my work. I have been fortunate enough to grow as a writer working around some of the best and I am looking to be one of the best by growing my catalog, artistry, and creativeness writing for others. The more you write, the better you become. I also have grown to attain my own personal studio in order to fully dedicate myself to doing just that!

Would love to hear from you. Click the contact button above to get in touch.

Interview with Vonn

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I was present during T.I's entire album making process this year. I had the ability to lay down melodies and harmonies for some records as well as give input on producing as my personal producer produces for him.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: My own personal project!

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: Yes! Yonni is a well-known producer in LA who engineers a lot of records for people. Also Mickey Shiloh who has made a living off writing for others.

  7. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  8. A: To give them what they're asking for as well as my loyalty and devotion.

  9. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  10. A: The freedom to create beautiful music for others in the way I like and know how to do. To hear my client's reaction.

  11. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  12. A: How much do you charge? lol and I always say it depends on what you are looking for.

  13. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  14. A: I would say there are no misconceptions. I prove it in my music. I used to rely on others to help me create and I found my time being wasted in the past, San artist and as a writer wanting to help writers on Soundbetter. Now I feel I only let my work speak for itself.

  15. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  16. A: Writer's block is normal. It's okay to get the opinion of someone else or have another artist help you open up your creative process with different approaches to your song. Co-writing for needing someone to write for you doesn't make you any less of an artist.

  17. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  18. A: If they were to never run out of battery, my phone, headphones, mic, interface, and keyboard.

  19. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  20. A: My career path was and is to be an artist. I juggle being a mom of 2 and working on music and the education of children so I have a plate full. I have been writing and singing for about 9 years and in LA over the last 3.

  21. Q: How would you describe your style?

  22. A: Smooth R&B

  23. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  24. A: I would either say Sabrina Claudio because she embodies sexy and classy or James Fauntleroy because he is a musical genius.

  25. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  26. A: Melody over everything. Make lyrics matter, but focus on melody.

  27. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  28. A: My vocal arrangements and voice. I feel overall just my vibe. I like to make what feels good.

  29. Q: What's your typical work process?

  30. A: I listen to a beat, sing what comes to me organically and record these melody runs so I don't forget anything. I listen back to them and piece out what I do like. I keep what I like and make lyrics for it, add harmonies and there you go!

  31. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  32. A: I currently run off an iMac computer in my home studio and use pro tools 12. I like to create my own vibe and be in my own world although I still record in LA.

  33. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  34. A: I typically in my professional life create melodies or write lyrics for artists struggling with lyricism, but have the voice.

  35. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  36. A: RnB, pop, acoustic

  37. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  38. A: I bring sensuality to a song. I fee my tone of voice can help change the vibe of a record and help bring life to it. I also feel I bring depth to a writer's ideas, adding harmonies and opening up pockets for the song to breathe and the listener, enjoy!

  39. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  40. A: I am definitely inspired by Sade, God, Maxwell, Ro James, Alina Baraz, and Eric Bellinger.

  41. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  42. A: How do you describe your sound? What is it are looking to do new to your music?
