Ryan has mixed several projects for us. Here's why we keep going back to him -
    1) Client focused. He's concerned about the project sounding the way we want it to.
    2) Good communicator. Keeps us in the loop.
    3) More than once we have approved a mix, only to have him tweak a couple of things he was unhappy with, resulting in improvements.

Interview with Ryan Maier

  1. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  2. A: I want to help you get your song/project to a point where you love it.

  3. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  4. A: Don't "fix it" in the mix. Get it recorded/performed right the first time. Before you record, practice.

  5. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  6. A: When mixing a song I've never heard before I get to have a third person perspective that can be beneficial to the project. A fresh set of ears can do wonders for a song.

  7. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  8. A: Luke Buishas, Brandon Ray, and Ryan Michael Tant

  9. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  10. A: Both. Digital for the quick recall and analog for the sound.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: I get work with a wide variety of people and get to mix different genres of song.

  13. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  14. A: Be clear about what you want and what your end goal is. Also, send a reference mix.

  15. Q: How would you describe your style?

  16. A: I think I mix songs pretty organically and natural sounding.

  17. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  18. A: I use Pro Tools to mix. That gets sent out to an analog summer with various analog gear, then that gets printed back into Pro Tools.

  19. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  20. A: Mixing
