Interview with THE GREATEST SOUND

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: Most of my well known clients have decided to work with me with a nondisclosure agreement so I cant discuss who but one of my mixes has reached the billboard under some else's name .

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: Im working on my personal album right now i'm putting the finishing touches on my own masterpiece whenever I have down time from clients projects. I put of coarse put my clients work ahead of my personal work. Today i worked on a reggae sounding song that a client from canada sent me , its great music but i keep my clients music top secret no leaks because that would ruin my trust and reputation so if I told you who i am working with I would have to kill you.. lol just kidding

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: Ha i don't associate with the competition lol

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Both if possible , it truly depends on the genre and overall vision of the artist taste, Analog is great and has that vintage and warmth feel but digital on the other hand can mimic it to a certain extent. Digital can get the job done too. I would use both for different things.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: My promise to clients is that I work for you and will give you the focus and attention you deserve guarantee.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: I love taking something decent and making it extraordinary . Waking up living my dream mixing and producing music. I love making my clients smile.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: Clients ask how soon will they receive their song and i say as soon . soon as I hear perfection. Im on your side

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: No offense but I cant make garbage sound good it has to be recorded decent. That means no clipping and distorted sounds. An audio engineer cant control what he does not record so I can just improve what you send me so send me your best quality recording and I can take it to the next level.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: I ask clients what they imagine the master track should sound like so in don't over or under mix it. I ask what sounds they would like to hear sound better and what sounds they would be mad if i touched. I ask if they want me to take control of the mix or if they want me to just clean up the work they have already done.

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Always find someone that knows there frequencies and how to create space in a mix . Do some research about mixing and ask some basic questions , that will help you know whether someone just has equipment and no knowledge. Because you can have a hollywood studio with all the greatest gear and still come out with a bad mix if you don't have the knowledge you need to make things sound great. Ask about Eq and compression get informed about what you need so you don't get bad results from people.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: HEADPHONES <MAC <MONITORS <MIC<PREAMP

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: As a music producer i constantly ran into the same problem of needing my music mix and mastered so I studied audio engineering and now I mix my own projects . I have been mixing for 15 years now

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: I would describe my style as clear and vintage but still up to date with todays sound.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: I would love to work with Blake Shelton, Beyonce and Kanye West and Linkin Park because they all would inspire me to win them another grammy. But i am really trying to meet new talent to to take to the top with me because i always root for the underdog

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Don't over compress because it will ruin your master in most cases. use good pre-amps and good recording techniques it will give you that hit you are looking for.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: I get all types of work from all genres. The most common work I get is pop and hip-hop and edm and rock

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: I can EQ with my eyes closed literally I know how a sound should sound . I also know when and when not to use compression. A very strong skill is preparing a mix for mastering which is very important to my clients I am great with keeping the levels perfect for a mastering engineer to take the mix to the next level with todays sound wars and everyone trying to get the loudest master. I make it easy because it work my levels to perfection.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: I bring the mind set of the client to every song I mix. I bring the correct energy for the rhythm. I bring dedication to making every song the greatest sound I can possibly make it. I also produce music so I can also give my clients a musical background and experience with creation of making certain parts of a song stand out the way it should.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: I focus on individual sounds that need space, proper eq and compression. I listen, evaluated what I want to do, Then i execute. Every mix is different but I have a proven way of attacking them that works every time. I often get a good rough mix and leave the room for 15 minutes and come back to get a ear break , it helps keep the mix fresh and i get a chance to hear how a listener perceives the mix before I send the mixes back to the client .

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: To be honest I have a digital set up with great plug ins and thats all I need to make magic happen. As long as the product sounds like a million dollars who cares where it was mixed . I keep thing basic and efficient with a nice acoustic treated room and great head phones

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: I draw inspiration from classic mix engineers like the ones on quincy jones a-team. I listen every year to who wins the grammy awards and I study the sound designs of these records. I wish to win a grammy and want to take my clients to that level with my mixing skills.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: Great sound design is my specialty. The stereo image is the first thing your ears love. I work with my clients to design a special sound and that complements the producer and artist vision. I usually work on anything from hip- hop to edm to pop and r&b. I get clients that want to make that radio hit and I can deliver that quality for my clients because my ears are tuned and my knowledge of radio frequencies is top of the line. The plug ins I use help me to correct and improve my clients raw recording so improving the overall quality of the raw recording is and making it a radio ready mix for mastering is the most common type of work I do for my clients.
