  1. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  2. A: My friend Pablo Governatori. One of the best mixing engineers I've had the opportunity to work with. Has a warm, deep, and musical sound.

  3. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  4. A: The album "Four Elements Immersive Symphony" is the world's first Immersive symphony. I was involved in the recording engineering, stereo and Atmos mixing. Additionally, my parents were music producers for the album, and it won the Latin Grammy in 2023.

  5. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  6. A: Currently, I'm working on the Dolby Atmos mixing and mastering of new music for Copa Airlines.

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: The best of both worlds is crucial in every song I work on.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: I'll do my utmost to infuse your music with the musicality, impact, and vitality it deserves.

  12. A: The connection with the music, hearing my clients happy, being part of an artist musical journey, and being part of the positive impact that music has on society and in the economy.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: How much does stereo + Atmos mixing and mastering cost? Answer: $500, let´s make it happen!

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: The most common misconception out of the music world about my profession is thinking I'm a DJ who can tweak the equalizer on your home player. :)

  17. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  18. A: I entered the audio world in 2001 recording my own band. In 2004, I studied at the School of Audio and Acoustics in Caracas. From 2007 to 2010, I focused on recording and mixing classical music at El Sistema de Orquestas. I pursued a Bachelor's Degree at SAE Institute Paris from 2010 to 2012. I founded dBMix in 2014, inaugurated Venezuela's first Atmos room in 2022, and the second in 2023. I've been a Mastering professor at Academia Audioplace for 6 years. Latin Grammy Winner 2019 and 2023.

  20. A: Unique, competitive.

  21. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  22. A: I always ask my clients about their vision for the project and have them describe the sound they envision for their mix or master.

  23. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  24. A: When selecting a mixing engineer, I recommend reviewing their portfolio to assess the quality of their previous work. Also, seek references, check their experience in your specific musical genre, and ensure there is good communication and mutual understanding.

  25. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  26. A: Focal Trio 6 BE Speakers, MacBook Air M2, Merging Anubis Pro, Headphones, Modem with internet.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: I am a big fan of Dream Theater, that would be a dream come true.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Focus on Quality Recording: Start with well-recorded tracks. Quality in, quality out. and Consistent Monitoring: Use consistent and reliable studio monitors. Get to know how your setup translates to various playback systems.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: I've had the opportunity to skillfully work with a diverse range of musical genres, reflecting my eclectic musical taste in my work. I've earned Latin Grammy nominations for Rock, Vallenato, Merengue, Instrumental, Salsa, and Tropical albums. Additionally, I've secured two wins in the Classical Music category.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: Mixing & Mastering.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: I enjoy envisioning that I contribute musicality, depth, consistency, and an immersive experience for the listener that truly connects them to the music.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: I engage in a discussion with the client regarding their vision and objectives, organize the session, i adjust the gain structure for optimal balancing and processing, and commence with the mixing or mastering process.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: We have two Atmos Rooms. dBMix Immersive Caracas Room: It has a 7.1.4 speaker system with three Focal Trio 6 BE on the left, right and center channels, two Focal Sub6 for the LFE channel, eight focal Alpha 65 EVO speakers for the surround, rear surround, top front and top rear channels. In this room we also have the MTRX Studio interface and Digital Audio Denmark DAD-MON monitor control. dBMix Immersive Maracay Room: It is our second certified room in 2023. It has a 7.1.4 speaker system with two Focal Trio 6 BE on the left and right channels, a Focal Sub12 for the LFE channel, nine Focal Solo6 – ST6 speakers for the center channels , suround, rear suround, top front and top rear. In this room we also have the Merging Hapi MkII interface and Merging Anubis Pro SPS monitor control. In both rooms we have Pro Tools Ultimate 2023, Dolby Atmos Renderer and the most advanced Plugins for immersive mixing. dBMix Mastering Room: features both analog and digital mastering-grade processes. Equipped with Focal Trio 6 BE speakers, Dangerous Music Monitor ST monitor control, and an analog chain including the Manley Vari Mu compressor, Black Box Analog Design HG2, Manley Pultec EQP-1A, Elysia xfilter EQ, API 2500 compressor, and Dangerous Music Liaison. Our interface and AD/DA conversion is handled by the AVID HD I/O. Additionally, we utilize top-notch plugins and digital tools specifically designed for mastering.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: I believe I've learned a lot from engineers like Josh Gudwin, Alex Solano, Jaycen Joshua, George Massenburg, and Bob Clearmountain. I've also had the opportunity to attend workshops with engineers such as Bob Katz, Fab Dupont, Andres Mayo, and Geoff Emerick.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: What I have done the most in the last year is the combination of Dolby Atmos Stem Mixing + Analog Mastering in the stereo version.
