Interview with Shane Garcia

  1. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  2. A: If it gives you chills you are on the right path. You can be technical but it's about the feeling. Keep it simple. Go against the grain!

  3. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  4. A: I started to work on a lot of hip hop songs and then moving to pop style songs. I now work a lot on cinematic style music with stringed instruments but yet still has an edge with 808's and synths. I wanted to expand in the music with engineering and not stay in a box.

  5. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  6. A: I bring my ears, I trust what God has given me, which is keen and meticulous sense of everything instrument that I am hearing. And I let that lead me.

  7. Q: What's your typical work process?

  8. A: I like to start of with praying over everything for the music, for precision and proper direction for the frequencies and for calm and stress-free workflow. Then I organize all the files I have and begin with gain structuring and balancing.

  9. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  10. A: I like to keep things very simple. I do my work in the box (from the computer) in my studio room that's made very cozy and quiet.

  11. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  12. A: I have a few that have inspired me over the years. Ludovico Einaudi, Olafur Arnalds, Hans Zimmer, Kanye West (as a producer lol)

  13. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  14. A: The most common type of work I do are mixing and mastering and audio editing. I like to very closely with my clients.
