I am a producer and violinist originally from Richmond, Virginia. After graduating from the University of Georgia, I moved to Atlanta to learn from producer Ben H. Allen (Animal Collective, Deerhunter) as his assistant engineer and studio manager. I am now working as an engineer and violinist at Chase Park Transduction in Athens as well as a touring keyboardist, violinist and saxophonist for Faye Webster. I enjoy producing, recording, or playing on any project with a sound that interests me!

Annie was very communicable about her workflow and process. She reads music well and she recorded violin, viola and edited the cello parts to my ensemble piece. She has subtle mixing techniques for balancing sounds and sends complete stems, as well as her own sample mixdown which is very helpful. I’d recommend her in the future to all who are interested!

Interview with Annie Leeth

Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I'm really proud of Maximo Park's "Nature Always Wins", for which I engineered as well as arranged and recorded strings. It was made right when the pandemic began, so we had to deal with all of the challenges of working on a primarily remote album. The experience left me feeling both resilient and fulfilled musically!
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: It depends on the situation, I think! I've found that different genres tend to thrive in each. That being said, I came up in a hybrid studio, and have always felt comforted by analog gear. In a perfect world, everyone would have access to both, but technology has come so far that you can still get a great result no matter what.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I most commonly add layered string sections to songs that need a bit of an emotional push. I love creating lush, layered, large-sounding string sections as an affordable, real alternative to software strings.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Laurie Anderson, Andrew Bird, and Kishi Bashi come to mind. I love when I feel immersed in an album, where it's difficult to passively listen. These artists always do that for me!
