CINERAMA RECORDS on SoundBetter

I'm a musician; producer, composer, singer, pianist and guitarist. Recording and mixing engineer in my own recording studio.

My name is Santiago Barrio. I'm a producer; recording and mixing engineer, composer, singer, pianist and guitarist.

During the last 10 years I have produced hundreds of songs that are available on Spotify; some with more than 150.000 streams.
I have my own recording studio called CINERAMA RECORDS where I have been recording and producing many artists for more than 10 years in Bs As, Argentina.

I love my job; I like to record, edit and mix music in different styles and I am very meticulous so that the work is well finished.
I have also released several albums as a soloist (Santiago Barrio) or with different bands (Cinerama, Bruta ..) during the last 15 years.
All those songs are available on Spotify, in case you want to check the quality of the compositions and productions.

Although the demo that the artist gives me is something very basic, I can transform it into a super production, if the artist so wishes and is necessary.

I would love to know your projects; You just have to write me and you will see that we will understand each other very well!
Just click on the "contact" button and we'll get to work on your music!

Would love to hear from you. Click the contact button above to get in touch.

Recording with Santiago is a real pleasure.
Santiago is, apart from an excellent recording and mixing engineer, a very versatile musician.
He plays piano, guitar, bass, and drums.
In this way, when one enters to record with him, he knows that he has this plus that is going to be that your song is enhanced and that it reaches places that without his contribution, with the limitations of oneself, it would never arrive.
An excellent studio and an excellent musician.
A sublime combo to achieve better things than what one went looking for.

I had the chance to work with Santi for one of my songs, and I loved it!
Santi is not only a producer, but also an excellent musician, and that's evident in the way he works.
In no more than a week, my song was already finished, with all the musical arrengements (played by Santi), ready to go on air.

Santiago is by far the best professor and producer i've ever met. He is devoted and takes all the time you need to explain and make you understand every single thing. He has the best attitude and is always willing to take in new ideas from others or suggest new ones.

Santiago and I had worked together in several occasions and we always had a great time, both me and him performing and the public watching us. He is a brilliant composer and producer, and when he performs live he has a big charisma. We made a production together, some jazz and pop. Live we did rock, pop, soul and jazz. He is a very versatile artist and a super professional producer.

I had the pleasure of working with Santiago for two songs of mine. It is not easy to find people who are so deeply committed to your project and do everything in their power to make it sound as good as possible.
Besides being a very good musician he is a great person and makes you feel comfortable and heard throughout the process.
Really highly recommended. Both experiences I had were very pleasant and with extroardinary results.

Santiago it´ s an incredible human being, an great and authentic leader who works hard to get in the heart of any student, artist or project that needs to grow! We worked in many musical projects together and I realize that his sensibility is the core of his expertise and every thing he touches or works for or challenge, flourishes immediately. I highly recommend him as a musical engineer and coach at his studio or as a musical producer for any artist or band!

He is musically and technologically skilled. He is a multi-instrumentalist (amazing pianist!!!!). He is humble and very talented. Interview with CINERAMA RECORDS

  1. Q: How would you describe your style?

  2. A: I´m a producer who specializes in pop rock but who also knows how to mix that style with other genres and who has a clear and general vision of everything; very meticulous in delivering a good final sound.

  3. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  4. A: I generally work on rock or pop style music. I can also mix rock and pop with some ingredients from other styles such as blues, jazz, reggae, funk, etc.

  5. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  6. A: I have my studio acoustically treated to be able to record any miked instrument in professional quality. I have 2 AKG 414 condenser microphones and several shure and others .. I have a Focusrite Scarlett Octo pre and the Digidesign 02 rack from Protools. I work with the Protools software and I also have some very good GENELEC monitors. As for instruments, I am equipped with various electric and acoustic guitars (fender telecaster, G&L telecaster, Gibson Les paul, a bass, drums, various keyboards, etc ...

  7. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  8. A: There are several projects in which I worked and I feel proud and very satisfied with the result that I obtained. To name a few, songs with artists like Bruta, Francisco Arrambide, Peces Voladores, Cinerama, Alan Deriva & La Falafel, Uno a la Distancia; Santiago Barrio, Machi, etc... and many more. In all cases I feel that I managed to capture the artist's gaze and I was able to provide each one with what they needed as well as providing a good final mixing sound to their songs and enhancing each of those songs.

  9. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  10. A: At the moment I am working on several projects at the same time; for example I am mixing some acoustic songs; I am also producing songs for an artist who is in Spain (I am in Argentina) and who sings and plays the piano. I'm also working on some of my songs. New projects are constantly emerging that always start and end very well with the artists who pay me back, very satisfied.

  11. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  12. A: Not for now; i'm new to SOUND BETTER

  13. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  14. A: The answer is not Analog or digital. The answer is Analog and digital. Both can coexist perfectly.

  15. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  16. A: I promise my clients that they will be satisfied with my final work as a producer. Do not worry and trust my criteria, always respecting the tastes and dreams of the client.

  17. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  18. A: What I like the most about my job is producing a song and bringing it something new and making a good mix that sounds organic and fresh.

  19. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  20. A: When clients ask me how long it takes to finish a song, I tell them that it depends on each case and what the song needs.

  21. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  22. A: I don't know whether to call it a bug, but I'm not particularly good at mastering. I would have to specialize a little more in that regard.

  23. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  24. A: I ask them what style of music they imagine for their song and I ask them to pass me reference songs. From there my work as a producer begins.

  25. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  26. A: I would tell you to trust my experience and that you can listen to many works made by me on digital platforms to check the quality of my work as a producer and recording and mixing engineer.

  27. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  28. A: I'd take a piano, a guitar, a microphone, a computer, and a sound card

  29. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  30. A: My beginnings in music date back more than 25 years, since I started playing some instruments and writing songs and recording them. I have been a music producer and recording and mixing engineer for 10 years. I also compose songs, sing, play the piano and guitar and some bass. I can program or sample acoustic or electronic drums as well.

  31. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  32. A: I would love to work with artists I admire like: Coldplay, Radiohead, Blur, Oasis, Paul McCartney, etc.

  33. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  34. A: One tip that I could share is to edit all the tracks of each instrument well before making the final mix; this makes the whole band sound more assembled and makes the mix much clearer.

  35. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  36. A: My strongest skill is production and mixing.

  37. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  38. A: What I can bring to a song is my wide and eclectic look to bring out the best in each artist. My goal is to put myself in the artist's shoes and take him to his maximum potential. Afterwards, mixing is very important to me and I'm very meticulous about it so that everything sounds balanced and cool.

  39. Q: What's your typical work process?

  40. A: What I normally do as a producer is to receive a song from an artist with his voice and his guitar or piano for example, and I look for arrangements that can be made to that song with different instruments. Many of these instruments I can play myself (electric and acoustic guitars), pianos, keyboards in general, bass and some percussions or drums programmed or sampled ... well. On the other hand, in addition to looking for arrangements to the songs, I look for what style to give to that theme, always agreed with the artist, of course. In other words, I can record instruments myself or subcontract musicians to record in my studio if it is necessary, for example, to record a real instrument such as a cello or a trumpet. I also do the final mix of the song (which includes editing the instruments so that everything sounds well put together). And as for mastering I'm not an expert, but I can deliver a song ready to publish on digital platforms perfectly.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: I have always been inspired by musicians like The Beatles, Radiohead, Coldplay, Blur, Oasis, Pink Floyd and all English rock in general ... the brit pop of the 90's ... Many musicians from other styles and countries also inspire me, such as Argentine rockers (which is where I am from) like: Gustavo Cerati, Soda Stereo or Charly García among others. As far as pop rock producers I have always liked people like: GEORGE MARTIN, NIGEL GOLDRICH, BRIAN ENO and PHIL SPECTOR, to name a few.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: What I usually do is produce rock pop songs. This can include recording multiple instruments, editing, mixing, and mastering.
