Q: Analog or digital and why?

A: Hybrid, merging the two domains creates endless possibilities.

Q: How would you describe your style?

A: My style depends entirely on the project at hand, I will always ask the artist what they want it to sound like, that is the most important part of being a mix engineer.

Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

A: I’d love to work with Leslie Brathwaite because his approach to vocal mixing is inspiring.

Q: What's your typical work process?

A: I tend to start my day at 9am, I spend 30 minutes checking emails and the itinerary of the day, then I will set myself a target number of mixes, or songs I want to complete by the end of the day, taking breaks frequently to avoid ear fatigue.

Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A: Don’t be scared to tell me if you don’t like something, this is your vision, and I want to make it sound as close to what you want it to sound like as possible.

Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

A: I have been doing this for just over 11 years, I started out in a spare room in my parents house when I was 16 years old. From there, I and a few friends I met during my time playing in bands, decided that we would build our own recording facility from the ground up, we all learnt so much from this experience.

Q: Can you share one music production tip?

A: Back up everything at the end of a day!

Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

A: I work on an array of genres but I mainly work on hip hop, pop and rock music.

Q: What's your strongest skill?

A: My ability to work well under pressure.

Q: What do you bring to a song?

A: I bring a no nonsense attitude when I mix, everything is planned as per the artists wishes and recommendations.

Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

A: I have my own studio space located in Sheffield, UK. It consists of a live room and a control room. I run a hybrid style set up with plenty of analog outboard and plenty of up to date, high end software plugins.

Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

A: I’m a big fan of Steve Albini, his work ethic and overall approach to his craft is inspiring.

Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

A: I am a recording and mix engineer with over 10 years experience, I have worked on a number of huge hits over the years, mainly for artists from the UK and USA.
