Bette has been an absolute pleasure to work with every step of the way. She has a beautiful, strong voice, and turned lyrics into a full, fluid song full of texture and elegance. Super sweet too and fast to respond. So talented. Thank you so much, Bette!

Interview with Bette Schindler

  1. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  2. A: I am working on a project named Newport, quirky electro/relax/dance. I write and sing vocals with an amazing producer, Melvin Rijlaarsdam from Optoproductions. Also, I'm working on my folk EP.

  3. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  4. A: Optoproductions

  5. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  6. A: I love creating and singing. I love the recording process. I believe in synergy and working together makes everything better.

  7. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  8. A: What do you expect from me ? When is the deadline?

  9. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  10. A: Be transparant in your wishes.

  11. Q: How would you describe your style?

  12. A: From catchy funk/soul/poppy to deep meaningful and vurnable folk

  13. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  14. A: Amos Lee, because he knows how to tell a story and it makes you feel every word. As a musician he is the best, a grown singer.

  15. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  16. A: When it comes to recording vocals, just relax..

  17. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  18. A: Acoustic, Folk, Folk-Pop, Pop, Chill, R&B, Soul

  19. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  20. A: I work fast and have a wide range of music I can sing

  21. Q: What's your typical work process?

  22. A: I listen to a demo, a lot. To take it all in. I don't spend much time on writing itself. Mostly the first thing I come up with is the right thing. From there I build the song. For vocals..I find it important how the sound is, if its round, edgy, how it vibrates. When a song is ready to record, i lay the vocals usually in one session.

  23. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  24. A: Amos Lee, Alicia Keys, Tame Impala, Aretha Franklin

  25. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  26. A: Writing and singing melodylines and lyrics for producers

  27. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  28. A: Guitar, piano, laptop, solar panels, microphone

  29. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  30. A: I have been writing and singing songs for 15 years. Music is in my family, so obvious in me too. Very good vocal and theater-lessons as a kid. I've been in a couple of bands as a lead-singer. The last band I was in I sang backingvocals (funk/soul) But I prefer recording and creating over performing.

  31. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  32. A: AKG C414 recorded in a quiet vocalbooth through a CAPI VP28 pre-amp into a Ferrofish Pulse 16 converter.
