Interview with Spoove

  1. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  2. A: My own alternative project "Us." We are releasing multiple singles this year.

  3. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  4. A: Analog when it's convenient, digital is just everywhere and so easy now a days.

  5. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  6. A: That I will work the best I can to achieve your vision.

  7. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  8. A: That I get to wake up and feed my soul with the work.

  9. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  10. A: What object do you want the track to sound like? I often find that matching an object (e.g. cherry blossom type beat) instead of an artist or genre can lead to creative and unexpected discoveries. Plus it gives a fun visual.

  11. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  12. A: Make sure that they are interested in the project, it will always sound better (lol) if they enjoy the work and the sound.

  13. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  14. A: OP-1, Ableton push, my Taylor, a green flower, and a lighter

  15. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  16. A: I have been producing music for 8 years and studying music for 13.

  17. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  18. A: Childish, he likes to make weird sounding shit

  19. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  20. A: Clip your drums!

  21. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  22. A: I bring a fresh ear for what the song calls for. Having experience in multiple genres I am not limited to a certain way of thinking. Different music calls for different methods and mentalities.

  23. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  24. A: I run a moderate setup from my home studio. I'm running a 16 inch MacBook in a dedicated mix room fully treated with Yamaha HS8's. I have Bias FX amp sims and my full live rig for guitar (electric and acoustic).

  25. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  26. A: I started playing guitar at a young age and played in many alternative style bands. The biggest influenced from this sound are the Foos, Oasis, and the Killers. Then I was introduced to electronic music such as Seven Lions and Skrillex as well as Gold School hip hop like Wu Tang and N.W.A. Jon Bellion soon became a heavy inspiration for all things production as he combines different sound across the board with killer mixes.
