Interview with Andi Konstandaras

  1. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  2. A: Better english.

  3. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  4. A: Your product won't leave my hands until you are happy with it. There's always a certain amount of 'uncertainty' when you give your baby to an unknown person who will interprete and mangle it. If SoundBetter hadn't the Post-Pay-option, I would have had to invent it.

  5. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  6. A: I'm creative. No, seriously! We are literally creating. Whether it's a simple kickdrum or helping to generate emotions. It certainly is the best job in the world.

  7. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  8. A: In short... Q: How long will it take for me to (insert desired goal)? A: I don't know. :-))

  9. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  10. A: We all know that. There's that awfully big console with those 5000 knobs and all I do is twisting them here and there until I find the one knob, the infamous 'Awesomizer'- right next to the 'De-Sucker'. At the end of the day I turn it all the way up and hand over the finished master to the client.

  11. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  12. A: Would you like another coffee? Tell me about your vision. What do you want your listener to feel when he hears your Song?

  13. Q: How would you describe your style?

  14. A: Hm. Philosophical and loud?

  15. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  16. A: Yes. Listen!

  17. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  18. A: I'm basically a Rock-guy with quite a bit of experience in Pop, Classical and Jazz.

  19. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  20. A: Well, it's what most of my colleagues have. Apart from knowing the tricks of the trade it's having the right sense for the song, for the artists intention.
