A very competent singer that can sing EDM (liquid drum and bass) without losing 'soul. If you are looking for a singer who will respond to your wishes, work in close contact with you and deliver her job more than on time, then you are in the right place.

Interview with Desislava Zlateva

  1. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  2. A: I am working on several different projects for my clients from all over the world. Just finished a song for a DJ from France :)

  3. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  4. A: Both. Each of them has a charm.

  5. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  6. A: I promise to give a part of my heart and my feelings into every project.

  7. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  8. A: I do everything with love, mostly my music! So I do not feel it as a job but as love. I have been singing since I know myself, this is the thing that determines me as a human.

  9. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  10. A: What my vocal range is. My answer is that I am an alto.

  11. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  12. A: I think the biggest misconception about being a singer/vocalist is that you have to be famous to call yourself a successful person (singer). I think most people do not understand that it is a big success to do what you love for a living. Using your talent for a living is the best thing that you can achieve.

  13. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  14. A: Usually, I ask questions about their personal taste of music, their favorite styles, the theme for the lyrics if they want me to write some.

  15. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  16. A: Listen carefully to my samples and decide whether my voice is a fit for the project or not. Every voice is unique and beautiful in some way.

  17. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  18. A: MacBook Pro, microphone, audio interface, headphones, and a notebook with an attached pencil - here we are with more than 5 things, but the first 5 are the most important.

  19. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  20. A: I started with singing when I was 5. I am 28 now and this is a lot of experience. I've been a part of a vocal group for many years, where I gained solid knowledge and experience in performing and writing lead and background vocals. Also, I am a master of Music Industry Management since 2017.

  21. Q: How would you describe your style?

  22. A: My own style is something between Pop, EDM, and House.

  23. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  24. A: One of my biggest dreams is to work with Justin Timberlake because he is one of my favorite artists.

  25. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  26. A: Always listen to everything exported from the DAW. This is a machine but it might come up with mistakes too, especially when the drivers are messed up.

  27. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  28. A: EDM, Pop, House, R&B. I have a lot of experience and I feel comfortable enough to work in various generes.

  29. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  30. A: Singing :D I consider myself a creative person. For the last 2 years, I finished more than 230 songs, and most of my clients are coming back to give me another project. Also, I am a good communicator. I prefer everything to be clear when working to avoid problems acquired due to a lack of good communication. Usually, I am asking a lot of questions just to be sure that I and my client are on the same page.

  31. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  32. A: I can bring power and emotions with my vocal skills.

  33. Q: What's your typical work process?

  34. A: I prefer to take a listen to the project first. Most of the time I tend to be the right person for the project but at times I might not be a good fit.

  35. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  36. A: Mic - Rode NT1-A DAW - MacBook Pro with Logic Pro X Interface - BEHRINGER UMC204HD

  37. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  38. A: At that point in time, I am a huge fan of Halsey and Ariana Grande. They are different from each other but the common thing is that their songs are full of emotions and they make me shiver. As I grew up I was influenced by a lot of artists. To name a few Cher, Adam Lambert, Beyonce. The music of Justin Timberlake profoundly inspires me and I know almost every song of him. As a songwriter and artist myself, I am up to emotional songs and I need to feel the emotions while listening.

  39. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  40. A: My clients hire me to record lead vocals to their songs, as well as to create harmonies and adlibs. I am absolutely comfortable creating harmonies or recording a pre-written part given to me by a client. Another thing is writing lyrics to an existing melody, or writing both - lyrics and melody.
