Interview with Ryan Merida

  1. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  2. A: Digital, for convenience.

  3. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  4. A: Vocal recording, effects, arrangement, mixing, comping, tuning, .

  5. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  6. A: Crystal clear recording, and very "in your face" mix.

  7. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  8. A: I have two setups in the room, my analog setup uses a 80's era Yamaha mixer for a nice fat tone. I also use some universal audio outboard stuff. My second setup is all in the box Pro Tools with Waves.

  9. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  10. A: Singer songwriters of every genre inspire me

  11. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  12. A: I mix 2 or 3 live music concerts per week. The second most common situation I deal with is clients from all over the world sending me songs via dropbox, box, dropkloud, or any file hosting site for me to mix or master. When my work is complete I send the finishished product back. I also occasionally do post production mixing for short film and documentaries.
