CIÉLO (Creative Division) on SoundBetter

my name is saleem royale. i am a rapper, producer, photographer, graphic designer, aspiring fashion designer, blogger, and many other things. i would like to consider myself as just a creative in the truest sense. anything that's creative i'm interested in. i'm also a chef.

in particular i would love to offer my services of mastering. and music production. i have mastered and produced my own debut album (COLD SOUP). my style of production is sample based however i'm not limited to sampling it's just my personal preference. i can help in any area of music. if you would like to collaborate, bounce ideas, need a co-producer etc. i can do almost anything. so it would be easier if you were very specific in what you need from me. thank you.

Interview with CIÉLO (Creative Division)

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: COLD SOUP is my debut album. i'm proud of it because i did it all myself. it reminded me of when i was in the kitchen making food from scratch for the first time. there's very few rappers who do what i did with the amount of money i had or lack there of. it's just a really big accomplishment. there's no award that anyone can give me. it's literally art.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: i have new project coming.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: n/a

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: digital, it's the future.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: high quality.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: that it's not a "job"

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: n/a

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: that it's "easy" if you only knew.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: what's your vision? what feeling is the song trying to convey? are you open to experimentation?

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: know what you want before you contact me. i'm not trying to be rude. i'm just a very direct person and i don't have time for people window shopping for hobbies.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: my macbook, my cooking equipment and that's it really. i'm not really that materialistic.

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: i started out as a chef. that was the beginning. but i realized i was more than that. so i moved on to photography then fashion and then i just started doing everything. i get bored easily. so i just try to challenge myself. i've been cooking professionally for six years. and although i'm "new" to the music industry. i've studied it since 2004. but i've been a creative my whole life. i only went to school for culinary. everything else i taught myself how to do. i picked cooking up at nine years old.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: this is a very interesting question. i would like to describe it as organic (pun intended)

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: JAY Z & KANYE WEST. they are a very big part of why i decided to do this.

  34. A: too many to list.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: i like to invoke emotion. and leave an impression. make the listener feel sad that the song is over.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: well first i like to familiarize myself with the artists style. then the rest is literally magic.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: i'm pretty much mobile. just my mac & my MPC.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: JAY Z & KANYE WEST.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
