Interview with Kyle McAllister

  1. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  2. A: Do you have a pre-written part in mind or will I be needing to come up with something of your tune?

  3. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  4. A: Shhh.....(Nashville Tuning) Don't Tell!

  5. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  6. A: My home studio is fully equipped to record guitars, electric or acoustic. I have a fully treated room ready to be used, paired with Universal Audio interfaces including their suite of famous preamps.

  7. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  8. A: Typically, most clients reach out if they are in need of a guitar solo added to a pre-existing song or some comping added to their progression. Maybe they need a few underlying acoustic tracks real quick, or maybe they need a counter melody. Could be anything which makes it fun!

  9. Q: How would you describe your style?

  10. A: Blues influenced, hybrid picking, melodic flow, burning hot tubes.

  11. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  12. A: Most people call me when they need something jazz and blues influenced. However this week I've also done, a pop song, a punk song, and a folk song, all of which I loved!

  13. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  14. A: Something I value probably more than others do is the skill of not overplaying.

  15. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  16. A: People say my playing adds a certain color the song lacked before.
