6 million Spotify streams and 2.5 million YouTube views. 20+ years experience in songwriting, production, engineering and live performance. The raspy warmth of Bryan Adams and Don Henley meets the smooth soul of John Mayer and Jason Mraz. Get in touch to add some feeling to your next project!

Developing a passion for songwriting and production over 20 years ago I've worked on a wide variety of projects within the pop, rock, EDM, singer-songwriter, country and Irish traditional folk genres.

As this is my full time job I'm able to turnaround projects quickly when necessary. That said, I really want your project to be just right and sometimes that simply takes time. My heart lies in delivering thought provoking writing and performances that have the potential to really move people.

Collaborated with award winning writers and producers such as Darren Schneider (Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears), Jude Johnstone (Johnny Cash, Stevie Nicks), Max T Barnes (Randy Travis, George Jones), Charley Stefl (Garth Brooks, Blake Shelton) and Doug Gill (Don Williams, Tammy Wynette).

Co-producing my newest album project in collaboration with session musicians such as pianist John McCullough (Van Morrison, Sinead O’Connor), guitarist Colm Mclean (Foy Vance, Gretchen Peters), drummer Mike Malinin (The Goo Goo Dolls) and bassist Dino Villaneuva (Tanya Tucker) - also available for your production needs should you require them.

I'd love to hear about your project. Click the 'Contact' button above to get in touch.

It was a real pleasure working with Warren. He is very receptive to instructions and I was delighted with the vocals he recorded for me...exactly what I needed! I look forward to hiring him again.

Interview with Warren Attwell

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I take pride in everything I work on. Good is the enemy of great and being a perfectionist I don't feel content doing anything by half measures. If it gave me a moment of happiness in creating it or it allowed me to help make someone's life easier or better then I'm proud to have been a part of it.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: My debut album, my demo club on Patreon and toplining a bunch of new EDM projects.

  5. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  6. A: Analog for the warmth, digital for the convenience.

  7. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  8. A: That I'll work my ass off until we're both 100% happy with the result.

  9. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  10. A: That it allows me to live a life of purpose that I might be able to help people the only way I really know how.

  11. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  12. A: 'Wait, are you telling me this sucker is nuclear?' - No, no, no. This sucker's electrical, but it requires a nuclear reaction to generate the 1.21 gigawatts of electricity I need.

  13. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  14. A: That it's not a real job? That one landed me a divorce attorney in the end. Don't try that one at home kids!

  15. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  16. A: Generally these are unique to each individual. Beyond logistics to help determine fees and timelines I really like to know who their influences are and what it is their trying to achieve - both as a creative and an individual - why are we even doing this?

  17. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  18. A: Know what you want. Reference tracks can be a huge help in understanding exactly what it is you're after. From the lyrical content, to the vocal delivery, production style - we're never really reinventing the wheel, we're just putting a new tyre on it.

  19. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  20. A: MacBook Pro - Universal Audio Apollo Twin - Slate VMS - Taylor 414ce - Korg SV1

  21. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  22. A: I started writing and performing over 20 years ago. My love of writing and production developed hand in hand - I started out producing in my tiny bedroom on a Korg D1200 multitrack recorder. After graduating with a music technology degree I moved into live performance full time. After gaining some minor YouTube fame I was scouted by Tough Stuff Music and started working alongside their writers and producers as a vocalist and topline writer.

  23. Q: How would you describe your style?

  24. A: Emotive, soulful and passionate.

  25. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  26. A: Taylor Goldsmith - to me Taylor is the modern day Bob Dylan. I would love to co-write with him to see how he might spin my thoughts into the poetry that he weaves throughout Dawes music.

  27. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  28. A: Do less while making more.

  29. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  30. A: Singer-songwriter, pop-rock and EDM.

  31. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  32. A: Songwriting - nothing makes my blood pump like writing a great lyric does.

  33. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  34. A: Great music for me is all about conveying emotion and helping the listener understand themselves and the world around them a little better. With that in mind I approach every project with empathy and compassion so that I can most effectively help you express what you want to say to the world.

  35. Q: What's your typical work process?

  36. A: When writing - I like to bounce multiple ideas back and forth with a client until we land on the perfect fit for the project. For vocal work - find the right key for the performance, record 5 or 6 takes before comping the best of each, re-record necessary fixes before bouncing a dry mix and edited performance. In production - discuss stylistic influences with artist, create demo production, record necessary parts to flesh out track, hire additional session musicians as appropriate.

  37. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  38. A: I started out using Cubase and Adobe Audition in my teens. In my 20's I moved to Logic Pro exclusively before graduating to Pro Tools in my 30's. I work from an acoustically treated home studio with an extensive microphone collection through Universal Audio pres.

  39. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  40. A: John Mayer's vulnerability - Taylor Goldsmith's perspective - Bryan Adams passion - David Foster's work ethic.

  41. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  42. A: Most often I'm involved in the vocal performance and/or writing of new projects. My passion is for telling emotive stories in a way that's universal and relatable.
