Songwriter, top-liner, vocalist with 10+ years of studio experience; I've won several awards such as the Grand Prize in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, The Lennon Award, International Acoustic Music Awards and The UK Songwriting Contest; My songs have been featured on major television shows such as ABC's Army Wives and Switched at Birth.

I primarily write and sing Pop music, as well as contemporary Country, but I'm versatile and I can cater to your needs. I sing in English as well as Spanish.

I have access to a studio and an excellent producer, so I'm able to record with a quick turnaround.

Great job on Spanish vocals, but English is her first language so communicating was easy! Very talented in multiple languages.
    Great voice. Fast work.

I’ve worked with Maddy in the studio for almost 10 years now. She’s a natural and has a beautiful voice! She’s proficient and professional while tracking vocals and can sing melody, harmony and in Spanish. Her songwriting and top-lining skills are 10 out of 10. She can write songs that are fun and catchy, but she also knows how to turn a small idea in to a powerful song that can make you cry.. I would highly suggest working with Maddy!

Interview with Maddy Rodriguez

  1. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  2. A: It depends on what the project is. If they're wanting me to sing a vocal, or write a top-line, I may ask for references (i.e. songs that have a similar vibe to what they're going for). I also usually ask what their deadline is.

  3. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  4. A: Be detailed about what you're looking for. The more direction you give me, the more I'll be able to help you achieve your vision.

  5. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  6. A: My guitar, my phone, my notebook (don't know if that qualifies as gear? lol), my laptop, and a microphone. Pretty simple!

  7. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  8. A: I started singing and working with a vocal coach when I was about 10 years old, but I started playing the guitar and songwriting when I was 13. I wanted to become a Country/Pop artist. I performed at several festivals like Canadian Music Week, had some of my songs on radio, was on a national TV show in Canada, and by the time I was 17 I released my first full length album as well as several singles. But a few years later I started traveling to Nashville frequently and realized that my true passion was songwriting, and that I wanted to just focus on that. That's when I began co-writing a lot, and meeting with several music publishers. I finally moved to Nashville in 2017 to pursue songwriting full-time.

  9. Q: How would you describe your style?

  10. A: Musically, I tend to lean towards Pop/R&B, but when it comes to lyrics, I'm all about story-telling and painting a picture (which is more typical in the Country and Singer/Songwriter genres).

  11. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  12. A: I would love to work with Charlie Puth because I think he's a music genius, and I love the melody choices he makes. I think we would get along Lol!

  13. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  14. A: Pop and Country/Pop music.

  15. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  16. A: My strongest skill is coming up with unique melodies.

  17. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  18. A: I bring creativity, passion, interesting melodies, and my soft/sweet sounding voice. I'm all about interesting hooks that say things in a new way.

  19. Q: What's your typical work process?

  20. A: No matter what kind of job it is, I like to ask a lot of questions at the start of the project and get a good idea of what my client is looking for. In terms of writing a lyric or a top-line (melody & lyric), I spend a good amount of time brainstorming ideas, and then I start to add structure to it. When I have a first draft that I'm happy with, I'll send it to my client for approval / notes. If there are any notes, I try to stick to them very closely when I'm editing the song.... When it comes to recording vocals for a client, I usually take 1-3 hours to learn the song (depending on how long / difficult it is), and get really comfortable with it. Then I record anywhere from 2-6 takes (sometimes in sections) and I have an experienced producer/engineer comp and tune the vocal.

  21. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  22. A: Some of my biggest influences include Sia, Julia Michaels, Max Martin, Charlie Puth, Kehlani, Alison Krauss and Dolly Parton.

  23. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  24. A: The most common type of work I do for my clients is top-lining, writing lyrics, and recording vocals.
