Interview with Josquin Des Pres

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: Gipsy Kings "Mira La Chica" Reggaeton Remix 2006. Remix Producer. The song was great to start with and I was able to give it a great club vibe.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: Working on a song for Warner Bros TV.

  5. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  6. A: Digital because of the quick editing capacity, also nowadays it all ends up compressed as an MP3 anyway. However, we do start with tube mic-preamps.

  7. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  8. A: We rely on repeat clients, whether a major label or an individual we only want happy clients.

  9. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  10. A: Every morning I get up and I get to do music. I have the best job in the world.

  11. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  12. A: What's next once their project is completed. I give lots of free industry advice.

  13. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  14. A: There are many of producers. Few can make music without electricity: Play multiple acoustic instruments, write songs, sight read music etc.

  15. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  16. A: I always ask what do they plan to do with the project once it's completed.

  17. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  18. A: Know your end goal before you hire anyone. Different objectives may require different services.
