Grammy Nominated Producer (Lupe Fiasco)/Mixer/DJ . I specialize in bringing out the best of your creative energy and beyond. No shortcuts. Let's elevate your music to heights you only imagined possible!
BIO: Cory Doan currently calls Woodstock, NY home. Although his Grammy Nominated career began in 2003, his love for music has been a life long journey. Getting his hands on his first Hip Hop cassette at 6 years old, Cory instantly connected to the booming bass, heavy grooves, and fresh sounds the expanding culture had to offer. Not only did he connect with it musically, he also embraced the powerful messages of knowing the self, complete freedom of creative expression, and the importance of being unique in a world filled with people struggling to connect with their true identity. With this love for music fueling his journey, Cory began honing his production skills against a backdrop of playing the trombone as well as DJing/Remixing. The mix of big drums, soulful melodies, and supersonic sounds blended with a keen ear to what is current in the culture, has created a fresh sound. Cory strives to make records that will not only have a tremendous impact on today’s culture, but will survive the test of time and inspire creative energy for generations to follow.
OFFER: I can offer a wide range of music production. Growing up in Woodstock allowed me to connect with many different vibes. My goal as a producer is to be of service and bring out the best in the artist. The production, sound, and music will be top shelf!

Soundmason did a great job! Cory delivered exactly I wanted!
It was great to work with Soundmason.
Very easy to work with, met all the requirements easily and delivered high quality work!
Cory was great to work with. He completed the project well within in the deadline and was willing to make the edits requested. Would definitely recommend.
Cory is very experienced and skilled in his craft. I would recommend him.
This man the best I'm so glad I choosed him, very reactive and nice in the messages, effective (mix & master in 2 days), and the sound was what I wanted, a professional sound but kept the vibe. Thank you so much !
Cory was absolutely amazing. He did everything that I asked him to do and went way above and beyond my expectations. He did a great job of anticipating the needs of the song. Despite sending him some complicated feedback, he had no problems implementing them exactly how I asked. He's absolutely one of the most professional and high quality peeps that I've had the pleasure with dealing with on soundbetter. Hire him now!
Soundmason, Cory is so nice!!
My project lasts around half of the year, but Cory kept holding his energy and gave me the best quality of music.
It was fantastic days, thanks!!
Cory DJ'ed a wedding for us and it was excellent. He pulled from multiple genres and time periods and the dance floor was full the entire time. Our guests all noted the epic mix of songs, the welcome lack of the "usual" songs and the fact that Cory never took a break, but was reading the vibe throughout and adjusting his playlist. It was a meaningful adjustment and it kept things seamlessly moving.
Cory was so helpful before as well, coordinating playlists, adjusting song lengths, etc. Highest marks!
Working with Cory was a blast! His ability to turn what you are looking for into sound is incredible. Adding sounds I wanted was simple and very quickly accomplished. I've worked with Cory on a few occasions, always impressed. Say a few words to him and he comes up with a matching beat, impressive. When he works on your project, that is his main focus, the results have always proved this. Will collaborate with Cory again in the future, highly recommended!
I've been lucky enough to work with Cory over the past few months on one of my projects. His ear and attention to detail is uncanny. Not to mention the beats are banging! Cory's a true collaborator and it's refreshing to work with someone who is truly passionate about their art. He's also just a great dude who loves Hip Hop and has so much to bring to the genre. Looking forward to cranking out more jams with this legend!
Cory is equally talented as he is great to work with. We can't wait to work on new projects with him in the immediate future.
I worked with Cory on the marketing of NBC/Golf Channel’s documentary of Arnold Palmer: ‘ARNIE’. He nailed the tone of the campaign because he understood that it was more than just creating a good piece of music; it was about capturing the emotion that connected fans to Arnold Palmer. Not only a fantastic award-winning producer to work with, but an even better person to know, who gets the business
A refreshing sound of quality hip hop production in a world of non creative beats that all sound the same. A producer who helps the artist bring his vision to fruition, not just putting sounds together on fruity loops. The Grammy win says it all. 🏆

Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I am inspired by most musicians and producers. I appreciate the energy and courage it takes to create and break new ground.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring a unique energy and talent for maximizing the potential and outcome of a song and it's release. I see the my role as the one who steers the ship and knows when and where to add input and when to just let the process take course.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Typically I work on hip hop or genres that connect to hip hop, which are many these days.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Follow the energy of a session. I find it counter productive to force anything.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I want to work with the next great, game changing rap artist no one knows about yet!
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I would say a mix of classic and progressive. I like to tap into what made music production great in the 80s and 90s while creating a fresh sound that resonates with today.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I began DJing in 1997, which led to an interest in production. I went to a trade school to learn how to run a studio and began professionally producing around 2003.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Ask yourself what you want to accomplish in your project. If you are looking to get the best possible outcome and want to push the boundaries of your creativity, I will help you accomplish that.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What are you looking to accomplish? Do you have a specific vision for your music? Where do you see your music in 5 years?
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That anyone with a computer program can do it.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: The process of creating.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I promise my clients they will be satisfied with the outcome of our work if they are willing to commit to it. I do my best to deliver. I ask the same of them.
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I produced All Black Everything for Lupe Fiasco. The record went Gold and was nominated for a Grammy, yet I find the actual feedback from the fans the most rewarding. The record really connected with people and created a space for them to expand their thinking and feel new emotions.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Laptop, Roland DJ 808, Ableton Push 2, OB6, Moog One
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Analog. I feel an analog machine has a consciousness and a soul. Digital has it's own unique energy and vibe as well, and I am starting to see more opportunities to mold the sound with unique, under-the-radar plug ins.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I am working with a rapper from Staten Island named Kritikal. We just released a new single titled "Smoked". We also have a dancehall vibe in the bag for summer. I also recently released a production music album for Position Music. One of the tracks was used in the new season of Empire. I am also working on a few other projects that are in the early stages.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My studio runs on a combination of Ableton, Logic X, and Pro Tools. I have Universal Audio interfaces and plug-ins for recording and mixing. I have a Dave Smith OB6 and Behringer Model D. I also use Omnisphere 2, Keyscape, and Alchemy synths. For monitoring I have Focal CMS 65s.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I approach each project with a fresh perspective. I speak with the client and get a good feel for what they want to accomplish, both generally then and specifically with the music. From there I like to generate ideas and see which ones resonate, then start to focus on one or certain ones until we have what we are looking for. I prefer to bounce ideas back and forth, as this creates energy which takes the music to a new level. The best creations come from a balance of using the left and right sides of the brain. A combination of thinking and feeling!
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My ability to take raw creative energy, simplify it, and then make it sound great.
