Interview with Tyler Gomez
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Being able to do what I love every day.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Just be yourself. Don't be scared to ask for something a certain way, at the end of the day its your song.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My Guitar, My Phone with the charger (that counts as one), A solar powered generator so I can charge my phone... Honestly that's all I would need cuz then I would be able to call for help on my phone. I would probably write a song while I wait for help and take some pictures.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I change a lot depending on who I'm writing for and about what. Its kinda weird, I'm able to almost take on a new character for the song I'm working on almost how an actor takes on a role for a movie or show. They start to develop little embellishments that makes that character a person.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would love to work with Charlie Puth, I think it would be cool to write a song with him, The melodies he comes up with are so unique and catchy.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Feel and emotion should always drive the song.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Working together and having a good time.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring passion, emotion and fun.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a whole little studio at home in a spare bedroom. I use a Neumann TLM 103 microphone isolated by a Kaotica Eyeball for vocals. I use an Apollo Twin going into an iMac loaded up with a copy of Maschine, Pro Tools, Logic Pro X and all my plugins all bumping out to a pair of Yamaha HS8s.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: So many people inspire me, but a few that stand out to me would definitely have to be Charlie Puth, Ed Sheeran, Max Martin, and Timbaland.
