Freddie began playing the piano at the age of 9. While other kids his age were taking formal music lessons, Freddie was able to learn the basics to music completely by ear. By the age of 16, he became venturing out as an independent musician and freelance keyboardist, playing in bands, churches, and ensembles at school, exploring genres such as gospel, jazz, rock, pop, alternative, and r&b

Freddie holds an Associates in General Studies from Joliet Junior College, as well as an Associates in Science in Audio Technology from SAE Institute of Technology in Chicago, Illinois. Freddie has been a enthusiast in music technology, sound design, and synthesis for virtual instruments, all of which he uses in his day to day workflow.

  1. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  2. A: Completing instrumentals and multitracks to further show my abilities and strengths while also learning my novices and weakenesses.

  6. A: Oh boy.... digital, because VST's have improved so greatly over the years, and it beats having to carry around heavy equipment and causing wear and tear on them, although they sound great in their on right.

  8. A: To serve as a creative asset in efforts to provide quality, meaningful, and memorable sound as a staple in the identity and presentation of multimedia worldwide.

  10. A: The fact that I can use my gifts and talents as a means to both serve someone on their project, as well as a means of provision for myself.

  12. A: What was it that made you feel comfortable in choosing to work with me? What is it that you look for in keyboardists/musicians for your project? Once done, What can I do to serve you better as an asset for your productions?

  14. A: Don't overlook those who don't have the experience or credentials as those at the top. We're all trying to work to get to the same level. Be willing to work with the underdogs.

  15. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  16. A: MacBook Pro, Roland A800 Controller, Roland JDXA, Sennheiser HD280 headphones, Large sausage pizza

  18. A: I have been working as a keyboardist since 16, and went to college to further my studies in music and audio production. the past 10 years has taught me quite a lot, and I'm grateful. It enables me to continue on and gain more traction in the music business.

  20. A: Edgy yet calm, aggressive yet relaxed, versatile yet focused.

  22. A: I would love to play with Jill Scott, her voice is amazing and the instrumentation by the musicians is always superb and feels great. I would be witnessing magic by sitting in the studio working with them.

  24. A: Name your tracks! Save your engineer the headache!

  25. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  26. A: R&B, Pop, Gospel, Christian, Alternative

  30. A: Clarity by means of quality, well-thought, and precise music accompaniment, manifesting the goal and vision in the mind of the artist.

  31. Q: What's your typical work process?

  32. A: Generally, I'll hear the demo that's sent to me by the client to get an overall feel of what they're trying to accomplish. Next, I'll write out the chord progressions appropriate for the melody being sung, or what type of rhythm or syncopation comes to mind along with it. I'll then use various synth leads or pads to add more texture and feel to the song where necessary.

  33. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  34. A: I have a simple home set up with my MacBook Pro running Pro Tools 12, Logic Pro X, my Korg Kronos X, Yamaha Motif, and dozens of virtual instruments in my arsenal.

  37. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  38. A: Most of my work will consist of me accompanying the song by means of keyboards, piano and synths, all tailored to the feel of the song. I'm also able to assist in songwriting, and arranging as well.
