Brendan Woodroff on SoundBetter

I'm a mixing/recording engineer based out of Chilliwack, BC. I'm here to help you get fantastic, radio-ready mixes of your music filled with the same emotion, energy, and excitement you put into writing it.

Check out some samples of my work here on Soundbetter and if you like what you hear lets connect and see if we're a good fit. I work with rock, pop, RnB, folk, blues, anything with acoustic instruments. I'm happy to work across many genres and I'll be very up front about whether I think I'm the right choice for your project.

When we work together please send me notes about the details and moods of the songs and any references of other artists or songs that best represent the mood of your project.

I'd love to hear about your project and how I can help. Just hit the 'Contact' button above.

Contact me through the green button above and let's get to work.

Interview with Brendan Woodroff

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: Plans & Disguises LP. I was co-writer, arranger, producer, and performer in addition to doing some minor tracking on each song.

  3. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  4. A: Sheldon Zaharko is a fantastic engineer!

  5. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  6. A: Both get the job done. Analog burns more calories.

  7. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  8. A: Get it right on the way in. A well rehearsed, performed, and recorded part will always translate to a better mix and better song.

  9. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  10. A: I usually work on pop, pop-rock, alt-rock, indie style productions. I also have experience in R&B and acoustic/folk music.

  11. Q: What's your typical work process?

  12. A: Drums and Vocals are the key elements of any song. Once the groove is in place and the melody is tight the rest of the production takes shape without ever losing sight of what makes it work.

  13. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  14. A: Primary mix rig runs on Pro Tools 12.8 through a pair of Yamaha HS8 monitors and matching HS8S sub in a custom-treated monitoring room.

  15. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  16. A: Jaquire King

  17. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  18. A: Remote mixing is my primary focus and the most exciting part of any project for me.
