Alex Silva on SoundBetter

Hey I'm Alex! I'm one half of the DREAMOIR duo and my personal project is S1LVA. I love to make all kinds of EDM usually melodic in nature with releases on labels such as The Nations Lowly, New Dawn and others as well as repeated support on channels like Airwave, MrSuicideSheep, Valiant, etc. Hit me up to get things going, I'd love to work with ya!

You will receive a professional track for your lead vocal/topline or if you have an idea of how you want the instrumental to sound before having vocals, I can do that as well! I will make sure everything is mixed and mastered properly before sending it over. The style I enjoy the most is a more melodic and electronic blend with organic sounds and orchestral components. I love to use as many natural sounds and instruments as possible to keep the emotion with a track while maintaining the sound design and bass necessary to really move a crowd.

I will send everything as 24-bit, 48khz. With that I will provide stems from each group of instruments along with complete mixed and mastered track with and without vocals.

I'd love to hear about your project. Click the 'Contact' button above to get in touch.

Alex once again gives life to my acoustic song with his electronic style and I couldn’t be happier. He listens and takes care to make sure the song is going in the right direction from the start and then delivers. I’ll be working with him again...

There are no words. I'm an acoustic guitar player (singer / songwriter) and had no idea what to expect when I handed Alex my song. He really took this song to another level and gave it so much character and then some.

I began working with Alex years ago, and I haven't looked back. He's become my official composer for scoring films. And because of his talent, some of my films have gone on to win national awards. He takes so much time to understand, compliment and up the vision. Alex is easy to work with, emotionally intelligent and incredibly hard working. His modern infusion of orchestral music is like a fine wine for the ears. I can't wait to work with him again!

Interview with Alex Silva

  1. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  2. A: I love creating and then seeing people listen and react to whatever it was that I helped bring to life. The feeling of a new melody that just sounds "right" can fire me up for days. It is so much fun for me.

  3. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  4. A: The biggest misconception is that just because I make electronic music, some clients may assume I can make a hit in any other sub genre of EDM. There are so many different styles in EDM and they vary wildly.

  5. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  6. A: The best advice I can give is to first look at some of my work and see if you like what you hear. If you do, next I would say be as specific as possible when describing what you want by the end of the project. The more guidance and references I get the easier it is for me.

  7. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  8. A: Usually a little reverb goes a long way so make sure you're not overdoing the reverb. If its a song that needs a lot just make sure the reverb is sidechained or cut where it needs to be to avoid a general muddiness and lack of punch.

  9. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  10. A: I work on electronic/ pop music. Most likely something along the lines of future bass or melodic dubstep.

  11. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  12. A: My strongest skill is developing a catchy and unique melody. They always seem to come most naturally to me and it helps carry the inspiration throughout the rest of the song.

  13. Q: What's your typical work process?

  14. A: My process normally starts with either a guitar or a piano, something to start coming up with ideas. Once I have some kind of a foundation of an idea I start layering with other elements. I get into drums, bass, chords for drops, layers for the chords, and I normally end with effects and adding all types of interesting sounds and impacts to increase the emotion Im going for.

  15. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  16. A: Im incredibly inspired by musicians such as Illenium, Odesza, Said the Sky, and Droeloe. On the orchestral side of things, I love guys like Hans Zimmer, James Horner, and Junkie XL

  17. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  18. A: The most common type of work I tend to do with clients are original instrumental productions whether its writing to existing vocals or if the track will be used with a vocalist later on.
