Saniyah X is a an American Artist, Songwriter and Poet located in Memphis, TN. Most recently, she has had the honor of working with Michelob Ultra, Maybelline & Makeup Revolution on TV & social media ad campaigns that have amassed over 100k plays & counting. What started out as a hobby in slam poetry turned into a career when she joined forces with R&B artist, M. Rose, to release "Worst Drug" which racked up 150k+ plays to date. Interview with Saniyah X
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: My most recent EP, Oil Slick, is something that I am especially proud of. Not only did I fund the whole project myself but I also wrote all of the songs and even produced one myself. It was truly a labor of love and something I am grateful to have made.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Depending on the project, I either work with my engineer at TrackNation studios in Southaven or out of Crosstown Concourse in Memphis, TN. I most frequently record on Logic Pro but I also have access to Pro Tools, Adobe Suite and Garageband
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I'm always working on something! Currently I am working on a 10 track project called Since September and open to collaborations with other artists. I am also writing a mini series that I'm excited to start filming.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: The thing I enjoy most is the connection I make with people. Whether someone is inspired and relates to something that I've written or they are compelled to network and reach out, I love being able to swap war stories, battle scars and potential for the future.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I don't have one set way of making a song. Sometimes I take a day to write, a day to record and a day to mix and master. Other times, I can do all 3 in one day. It really depends on how much time I have in the studio, how prepared I am walking in and how inspired I am by the music/topic.

A: I am inspired by Michael Jackson, Missy Elliott, Pharrell Williams, Kanye West, Childish Gambino, J Cole, Chance the Rapper, Justin Timberlake, Wondergirl, Gym Class Heroes, H.E.R., Daniel Caesar, Syd

A: I bring soul, emotion, passion and authenticity to anything I do.

A: I would describe my style as therapy lol a feel-good soul expression.

A: I would love to work with Childish Gambino because his career has really shown how creative he can get and how his art really has no limits.

A: Don't overthink it. Make sure it feels right.

A: I usually work on Hip Hop, soul and R&B music but I love to experiment and cross genres
