Interview with Joseph Claire
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: If I have to choose, I'd say beat-making/producing is my strongest skill because that's my main thing. Secondly, mixing because I get to express a certain mood/vibe and help convey someone's story in the best light. Thirdly, I'd say vocal comping because I truly enjoy it! I pay very close attention to how the final result comes out sounding. I make everything sound seamless.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I promise to deliver and capture the essence of your music.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Being able to help others bring their vision to life.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: Let me know if there are any specific requests to ensure that all expectations are met. Give me artist and song references if there's any particular sound you have in mind.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I'm sometimes experimental and always authentic.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Don't be afraid to "break the rules". You don't have to do things exactly like everyone else. Do what works best for you! Try new things from time to time and see what sticks.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I typically work on Hip Hop/Trap/R&B, but I also do Future Bass and several Pop variations.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring it life, emotion, and distinctive personality.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I like to go with the flow. I feel out the vibe before I do anything. Once I've done that, I'm doing a lot of mental work providing myself with a work print of necessary steps to take.
