Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

A: My first solo album. It was effortless, smooth and happy. The result was well-received and gave me the honour of performing at one of the biggest Jazz festivals on the planet. That was another dream come true...

Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

A: Long enough to trust me...

Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

A: Laptop (with solar panels, of course), USB powered converter (with built-in pre-amps), headphone, keyboard, guitar

Q: What are you working on at the moment?

A: My second solo album. The freaking virus closed this country down and many of my collaborative projects were cancelled, so now I'm doing what I haven't had time to do in the last few years - finishing my tracks.

Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

A: No, I'm new here... I noticed some famous producers and engineers on here who did big records for very famous artists who worked with even more famous songwriters. But who was the key component in the project? I'm not sure.

Q: Analog or digital and why?

A: Both. Practicality. Most engineers can't hear the difference, so imagine the audience...

Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

A: We will have fun! Plus you'll leave with something you're happy and proud of.

Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A: Q: How much time will you need, and how much it will cost? A: I don't know because I can change your vision for the better in a split second. Now tell me how much that second is worth to you...

Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

A: People think that where you work and what gear you use are important, but really, it's all about the ears and knowing what you do with what you hear.

Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A: Try them out if you can... You never know who will hear your songs in a way you've never imagined.

Q: How would you describe your style?

A: Happy, honest, creative, intelligent.

Q: Can you share one music production tip?

A: Work on the song and the arrangement, not on the mix. Sometimes you need to rip the song apart and discover the best way forward with it. Use what you have instead of dreaming about what you could have. Some people can do big things from nothing, while others can only do shite even with all the best gear on the planet.

Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

A: I work mostly with a simple Pro Tools setup. I also have Fruity Loops for samples and Midi and Ableton Live for the same. I've got a few pre-amps, a few microphones, good cables, and good plug-ins. If the artist is good and has a good song, you don't need a lot of equipment to make it sound pro - just good ears, creativity, and preferably some experience in music. You can make a worldwide hit on a laptop these days. One guitar or piano and one voice. Adele. Bang. You've got a bestselling artist.

Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

A: Amazing, creative singers inspire me, especially the intelligent and humble ones. I like smart company.

Q: What's your strongest skill?

A: My ears to hear the details in music, and my fingers to play instruments...

Q: What do you bring to a song?

A: Whatever is missing. Finesse. Or else I take out what's unnecessary.

Q: What's your typical work process?

A: That depends on how well the artist is prepared. The process could be long and painful, or short and sweet.

Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

A: It's always a team effort. No producers or engineers are good without good artists and good songs and vice versa. I like good teams with good ingredients. Any style.

Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

A: Recording songs and instruments, cleaning vocal and instrumental tracks and arrangements - sometimes adding my own arrangements, then mixing it all until it sounds great to both of us.

A: Creating something invisible what makes others feel good.
