Gerald "The Sound Of Keys" Keys Jr is a Music/Record Producer, Mixing/Recording Engineer, Instructor, from Sacramento, CA. With over 10 years of professional experience he has worked with artist ,producers and writers ranging from Sony ATV, Warner Chappell, Atlantic Record, UMPG, Epic Records JR Rotem, Bryan-Michael Cox, The Underdogs, DJ Mustard, Ty$, YG, Zendaya, Jonn Hart, El Debarge, Murs, Rick Ross, Big Sean, Mozzy and alot more. Currently working in Los Angeles freelancing and partnering with Studios such as 1 Zero Recordings (Hollywood) and RnBass.com studios (N.Hollywood). Keys is currenty doing artist development with multiple artist for Roc Nation, Atlantic Records, Epic Records and putting out direct releases in partnership with Inara Records/Empire Distribution.

Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: You will leave knowing you can get from A-Z

A: It's ok to not know what you're doing. You learn as you go.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My hard drive, laptop, interface, ableton push, headphones.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: My Career path is to an overall record man. I've been in the recording and music field since 2005 and have been working professionally since 2009.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Catering to the clients taste.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would love to work with Beyonce to see the level of talent she possess.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: use emotion over technical.

A: All Genres.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Coaching and Polishing Records.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring experience from working with some of the best producers in the industry with the last 20 years of hits. Since i am an engineer by trade im able to polish demos and help artist reach their fullest potential.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: When I start with a new artist I love to hear what they are listening to and where they are trying to go musically. I then work with an artist to get a demo, then i let the artist live with it so we can record the best performance for the reocrd.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: - My studio setup consist of macbook pro and tower - Universal Audio Apollo with all UAD Plugins -Waves Plugins, lots of plugins -SE Mics, BLUE Mics, Pearlman Mics -
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I draw from the past and the present sound of music to keep a sense of trendyness and classic elements to bring the best out of an artist and song. People like Babyface and LA Reid, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, Timbaland, Dj Quik, BattleCat, Metro Boomin, Mike Will, Zaytoven, Kanye West, Pharell, Jeff Bhasker.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Most of my work consist of producing records from the engineers seat. I am an engineer by trade so when i produce i mix and edit as i go. I love vocal producing and coaching people through singing/rapping. Making beats is a heavy need of my clients along with understanding how to get from A to Z in the record making process.
