Q: Analog or digital and why?

A: Digital for workflow, Analog for mindset. I love the warmth of analog gear, but in today's fast-paced industry, Digital allows for precision and speed. I use plugins that emulate analog character to get the best of both worlds.

Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

A: I've been in the industry for over 5 years. My journey started early as a vocalist (The Voice Kids 2014), then transitioned into the studio world at Ken Studio (2020). Later, I expanded into leadership roles as the Technical Director for large-scale student shows (UEHG) and now work in high-pressure live sound environments at Mây Sài Gòn. This path has evolved from 'performer' to 'technical leader,' giving me a complete view of music production.

Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

A: Michael Jackson, TOTO and Bruno Mars. Because their sound in a song is too good and musical

Q: Can you share one music production tip?

A: Gain Staging to keep the Dynamic range and not be fooled by Peak meters. And most specially, understanding the “All-in Compressor” to create space, not just stopping at compressing the signal. This was a valuable lesson.

Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

A: I specialize in Pop, Ballad, Funky, Disco and Indie Pop-Rock. My experience working with top-tier Vietnamese artists (like Ha Tran, Uyen Linh) in live environments has also given me a deep understanding of how to capture and mix Live Band performances to sound dynamic and authentic.

Q: What's your strongest skill?

A: My 'Hybrid' mindset. Because I have a background as a professional musician (Keyboardist) and a vocalist (Top 15 The Voice Kids), I don't just listen to frequencies; I listen to the musicality. My strongest skill is using technical tools (EQ, Compression, Saturation) to enhance the emotional impact of the song, ensuring the technology serves the art, not the other way around.

Q: What do you bring to a song?

A: I bring a fresh pair of ears and a 'performer's perspective.' I strive to make the track feel 'human.' Whether it's automating a delay throw to highlight a lyric or playing a piano counter-melody to lift the chorus, I look for ways to make the listener feel something, rather than just making it loud.

Q: What's your typical work process?

A: Communication comes first: 1. Vision: We discuss your references and the 'vibe' you want. 2. Prep: I organize the session, clean up audio, and do any necessary editing (vocal tuning, timing). 3. Production/Mix: This is where the magic happens. I shape the sound, balance the elements, and add creative touches. 4.Feedback: I send you the first draft. We refine it until you are 100% happy. I respect deadlines and value clear, honest feedback.

Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

A: My work is a blend of Audio Engineering and Music Production. Primarily, I focus on Mixing and Mastering for Pop, Indie, and Live Session recordings. Since I am also a pianist and producer (Runner-up at Band Đấu 2024), I frequently assist clients with Arrangement—specifically adding soulful keyboard/piano lines or building a full instrumental structure around their vocal demos.
