Interview with Gustavo Felipe

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I’ve always collaborated with Yookazii on projects with various artists, and I’m very proud of this work because each track comes out with its soul fully expressed for everyone to hear. I’m also very proud of my own work as a singer, where I get to bring my personal vision and emotion directly into the music.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: I’m currently working on my professional album as a singer, and I’m also looking for projects to earn income while continuing to develop my music.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: I don’t really know anyone on SoundBetter personally right now, but it seems like there are a lot of talented professionals on the platform.

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: I work primarily in a digital setup because it allows for flexibility, precision, and experimentation. Using a DAW like FL Studio, along with virtual instruments and plugins, I can quickly try different sounds, arrangements, and effects while maintaining high-quality production. That said, I also incorporate analog elements when needed to add warmth and character to the music.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: My promise to my clients is to deliver high-quality, creative music that brings their vision to life. I commit to attention to detail, clear communication, and making sure every track resonates emotionally, so the final product exceeds expectations.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: What I love most about my work is turning ideas into sound — seeing a simple concept evolve into something powerful and emotional. There’s nothing more satisfying than creating music that connects with people and captures a feeling.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: The questions clients most commonly ask me are: “Can you create a beat in this style?” – Yes, I can adapt to your preferred genre, mood, and references to craft a unique track. “Do you provide full arrangements or just the instrumental?” – I create full arrangements, melodies, and vocal arrangements, while the vocal production is handled by Yookazii if needed. “How long does it take to finish a project?” – It depends on the complexity, but I always aim to deliver high-quality work within a timeframe that fits your needs. “Can I request revisions?” – Absolutely. I work closely with clients to make sure the final track matches their vision perfectly.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: The biggest misconception about what I do is that people think I only make beats. In reality, I create full musical experiences, handling arrangements, melodies, and vocal arrangements.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: When working with potential clients, I usually ask questions like: What is the purpose or project for the music? What mood, style, or emotion do you want the track to convey? Are there any reference songs or sounds you like? Do you need vocals, instrumentation, or just a beat? What is the timeline for the project? These questions help me understand the client’s vision and create music that perfectly fits their needs.

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: My advice for a client looking to hire a provider like me is to be clear about your vision and goals. Share references, describe the mood or style you want, and communicate any specific ideas. The more information you provide, the better I can tailor the music to bring your project to life exactly as you imagine.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: If I were on a desert island and could bring only five pieces of equipment, I would choose: -Laptop with DAW (FL Studio) – to produce music anywhere. -Audio interface – to record and connect instruments. -High-quality microphone – for vocals and sampling. -MIDI controller – to play melodies and create beats. -Headphones or studio monitors – to mix and hear everything clearly. With just these five, I can create a whole universe.

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I started sharing my music on platforms in 2023, and I am both a singer and songwriter. Since then, I’ve been focused on creating beats, jingles, and original tracks, constantly exploring new styles and developing my sound.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: I would describe my style as a blend of R&B, Pop Trap, Hip-Hop, and cinematic elements, with a focus on melody, atmosphere, and emotional impact. I like to experiment with sounds and textures, creating tracks that feel fresh, unique, and memorable.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: I would love to work with Travis Scott and Blanco because both artists have a unique way of blending sounds and creating moods that push musical boundaries. Collaborating with them would allow me to explore new styles, experiment with creative ideas, and craft music that connects deeply with listeners.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: One key tip I always share is to focus on the emotion of the track before the technical details. Start by crafting a melody or rhythm that conveys the feeling you want, then build the arrangement, layering instruments and effects to enhance that emotion. Mixing and mastering should serve the vibe, not overshadow it.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: I usually work in R&B, Pop Trap, Hip-Hop, contemporary pop, and cinematic music, blending different styles and influences to create unique sounds. I enjoy experimenting with melodies, rhythms, and textures to craft tracks that feel fresh, emotional, and engaging.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: My strongest skill is creating music and vocals that connect ideas and emotions. Whether producing beats, composing melodies, recording vocals, or crafting full arrangements, I excel at turning concepts into engaging and memorable tracks that resonate with listeners.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: I bring creativity, emotion, and attention to detail to every track. Whether it’s a beat, jingle, or full production, I focus on crafting melodies, rhythms, and arrangements that connect with listeners and give the music a unique identity. My goal is to turn ideas into memorable and impactful sound experiences.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: My typical workflow starts with understanding the client’s vision and the mood they want to convey. I then create the instrumental or beat, layering melodies, harmonies, and rhythms. If vocals are involved, I handle recording, editing, and mixing, ensuring each element fits perfectly. Finally, I polish the track with detailed mixing and mastering, delivering a high-quality, ready-to-use product tailored to the client’s needs.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: My studio is set up to handle everything from beat making to full vocal production. I work with a digital audio workstation (FL Studio), high-quality audio interfaces, microphones, and studio monitors to ensure clear and precise sound. I also use MIDI controllers, plugins, and virtual instruments to craft beats, melodies, and full arrangements. The setup allows me to deliver polished, professional music tailored to each client’s vision.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: I draw inspiration from artists and producers who push creative boundaries, such as Don Toliver, Blanco, Travis Scott, Yeat, Yago OPróprio, Justin Bieber, Bruno Mars, Twenty One Pilots, WIU, Teto, and Bad Bunny. Their ability to blend genres, craft unique sounds, and convey emotion motivates me to create music that connects and leaves an impact.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: The most common work I do for my clients is creating custom beats and soundtracks, ranging from full instrumentals to short, impactful jingles. I focus on turning ideas into music, crafting arrangements that connect emotionally with the audience and meet the specific needs of artists, brands, and content creators.
