I am a recording and mixing engineer and I have been recording and mixing for more than 10 years. I learned radio production and editing while employed at SiriusXM and Emmis Communications.

I am have primarily recorded/mixed/mastered for hip hop, pop, and R&B artists; however, I can work with any artist in any genre. I enjoy helping artist achieve their sound goals through mixing their music. I have worked with many up coming artist of which are listed in my credit highlights with a few production, recording, mixing, and mastering placements on iTunes. I offer a wide range of services that include recording (both remote and in person), mixing, mastering, podcast editing and more! I specialize in vocal comping and tuning.

Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I uploaded a song from a song writers camp that i am extremely proud of. I produced the track co-wrote it, and mixed it! Awesome experience!
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I’m always working on my own music and songwriting. Once you stop it’s hard to get back on the horse.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Yes. If I can’t do it Mike ‘Ski’ Makowski can get it done for you.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I love analog because it the world we live in but I have to choose digital because it has made music creation available everywhere! We have seen so much talent rise because of digital.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: That I will take the time to understand what you want before accepting the job. If I can do it, I won’t take it on.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love having a satisfied customer.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Why does mixing cost so much? I tell them because the equipment and the experience was not free.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That you can take something that was recorded poorly and make it sound like a million dollar recording. Also that it’s easy and anyone can do it. A mixing template is not the saving grace if you don’t know what you’re listening for.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What is your budget? When do you need it by? Can you send me a reference of what you want your song to sound like?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: It is hard for an artist to find someone that they can work with. Find the person you can work with and stick them!
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Mac book pro, interface, keyboard, maschine, and my waves server!
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started out as a mixing engineer student in 2009. I ended up working in All Smiles Studios in Harlem while interning at Sirius XM and Emmis Communications. I then ventured out as an independent audio engineer. I have been doing this for the past 10+ years. You never stop learning though. You have to keep learning to stay on top of your game.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I would describe my style as modern. Staying current is important.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I take the time to listen to an artist request to help them achieve their vision and goals.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: The most important tip in music production is gain stage!!!!! Make sure you always gain stage for a song to sound great!
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Usually hip hop and R&B but this is no way a limitation! I can work on any music.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Vocal comping and Eq
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Each song is different and each artist vision for their song vary. I think its more important to bring out the vision and or character of each song independently. The song guides what the engineer brings to the song. I bring your vision to your song!
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I typically clean up a session making sure all the audio ess sounds, breaths, and mouth noises are lowered or removed while keeping a natural sound. Then corrective eq, compress, and add eq. Sweeten the mix with fx to taste.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I’m running pro tools and logic. I can use them independently or wherever necessary. I have a Universal Audio interface as well as a satellite expansion. I’m also running waves with studio rack.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I am huge fan of mixing engineer and producer Young Guru, but I have an wide selection of musical and producer favorites. Right now, I’m really vibing out to H.E.R.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Most people provide a two tracked instrumental and ask for a vocal mix. However, I like mixing complete songs with individually tracked instruments to make a complete mix.
