I’m here to serve your song in the best way possible. Whether it’s a classic rock lead, a jazzy rhythm, gritty Americana or blues riff, or super ambient space warble, I got ya covered. I believe in quality notes over quantity, good timing, and most of all, great tone.
I’ve been playing guitar for 30+ years, studying and focusing on sonic quality and tone for the last 10. I love to hunt the perfect tone using a variety of amps, guitars, mics, preamps and other outboard gear. Big analog guy, big collector of sounds. If there’s a particular amp or guitar you’re wanting on your record, I’ve likely got it.
I own an inviting and affordable rehearsal/recording space and work with a lot of emerging artists in Nashville, particularly those still trying to find their niche or voice, and help get what’s in their head onto a track or stage. I’m more than familiar with the financial challenges to chase a dream, and the intimidation a super-pro room can inflict, so I try to help ease those two elements as much as possible for those that need it. I can provide the same inviting and easy-going approach to remote work, as well.
I try to keep tracks clean without a lot of digital processing in post, and run as much of an analog signal path on the way in as possible. If that's what you're looking for, give me a shot!

Interview with Mike Hammontree
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Simplicity. I try not to overplay and am perfectly content with single note fills or melodic leads that people can sing a long.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a detached studio at my house, sound treated and loaded with more gear than I should. I'm and Apple/Logic user, all analog recording into the DAW with real amps, mics and mic pres.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Mike Campbell is my hero, like so many of us. Simple yet impactful melodies and licks, the things that get stuck in your head. Production wise, Chris Frasco is someone I look up to for making songs sound the best they can.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Mainly rhythm and lead electric guitar work. Solo tracks or layering multiple parts to fill out a song.
