Credits include Kasey Chambers, Jimmy Barnes, Paul Kelly and many others. I am a Nashville based Australian producer and mixer specializing in Roots and Americana music with multiple gold and platinum records and 15+ ARIA Awards to my work.

I have been producing and engineering for the last 25 years. I began playing drums in our family band when I was 8 years old living in the Nullabor desert in Australia. I grew up listening to artists like Gram Parsons, Emmylou Harris, and Jackson Browne that made me appreciate the effect music has on people. I started recording my sister Kasey's records in 1998 and continue to be her producer as her career continues to grow. Studio credits include: Kasey Chambers, Jimmy Barnes, Troy Cassar-Daley, Archie Roach, Paul Kelly, Cold Chisel, Jedd Hughes, Hayes Carl, The Waifs, Catherine Britt, Steve Prestwich, Angie Hart, James Reyne, Bliss n Eso, Mustered Courage, Harry Hookey, Ross Wilson, Grizzlee Train, Superjesus, Sarah Humphries, Kris Morris, Casey Burgess, Amy Sheppard, 19twenty, Jamie McDell, Daniel Champagne & more.

Nash is an incredible human and producer. His love of music and real artistry makes him an invaluable teammate to anyone serious about creating their music. I met Nash while touring with Kasey Chambers a year ago, and we began recording as soon as tour was over! He's instilled a confidence and work ethic in me more than any other producer I've worked with. Not only has he gone above and beyond to capture the feel and nuances of my music, we've had a BALL doing it. Making music is fun, emotional, vulnerable and incredibly rewarding - Nash has brought all of that and more to our projects.

I have been working with Nash over the last few months and couldn’t recommend him more. He has helped me build confidence as an artist and worked with me to develop my music and songs to the next level. His discography and accolades in the music industry speak for themselves but working with him is more than just making great music. Nash has a way of helping an artist develop and grow in whichever direction they choose.

I've been fortunate to work with Nash on several recordings. What comes to mind is his authenticity and his ability to break down walls to release the true creative intentions of the artist. I love his honest, organic approach to music-making. His extensive discography and accolades speaks volumes of his stellar professionalism and it's no surprise he is a superstar in the world of music production. Nash's passion for creating music is infectious and you don't just get a producer when you work with him, you gain a friend for life.

I have been lucky enough to work with Nash on multiple projects including two albums. Nash has a rare ability to build confidence in the artist's own musical attributes and encourage works and recordings that are unique to their story. His production style is experimental, collaborative and holds true to the roots of great Country & Americana recordings. It is a real honor to create alongside a producer with such an extensive list of achievements, however, he is not one to let on just how many! A humble, hilarious Aussie with a big heart and passion for fostering great music.

Interview with Nash Chambers

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I was fortunate enough to be the producer for one of Australia's most iconic Indigenous musical artists, Archie Roach. It was an emotional project helping him tell his stories, but it's one of my most treasured musical experiences.

  3. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  4. A: Digital. We have progressed so far in technology that anything is possible, and it's opened so many creative doors in recording and production.

  5. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  6. A: Getting to work with incredibly talented artists that become friends.

  7. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  8. A: My 1906 Steinway Vertegrand piano, my vintage "white" API console, my U67 microphone, DeGruchy resonator guitar and my Gibson EB-3 bass guitar.

  9. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  10. A: I would love to work with Old Crow Medicine Show because they are an incredible live artist, and I'd love to get them in a studio.

  11. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  12. A: I specialize in Americana and Roots music, but I have ventured into rock/indie music in recent years as well.

  13. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  14. A: My ability to keep the identity of the artist and the song intact while making it sound professional and put together.

  15. Q: What's your typical work process?

  16. A: I like to start from the formation of the song in order to keep the integrity and soul intact throughout production. I will have the artist send me a guide vocal and guitar (or whatever instrument they prefer) to a click track and we start to build a song from there. I always like to keep the artist in the loop, sending tracks back and forth, etc. The artist will then record their final vocal at a studio in their location and send it back to me for the final mix.

  17. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  18. A: Jackson Browne, T-Bone Burnett, Don Was, Springsteen, and Buddy Miller

  19. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  20. A: I am typically the producer an work on EPs, singles, and full-length albums. I work with the artist from the formation of the song to completion building tracks with my roster of A-list Nashville musicians.
