Interview with Joey Milano

  1. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  2. A: Why not both! Get that analouge flavor and also have the ease of easy recalls.

  3. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  4. A: As far as mixing engineers go you can learn from everybody, the ones that have inspired me the most are Bob Rock, Randy Staub, Chris Lord-Alge, Serban Ghenea, Jaycen Joshua and Phil Tan.

  5. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  6. A: I have a great ear for Pop and R&B music, it's the genres I have the most experience with although I'm a rock and metal head at heart so don't be afraid to take a chance on me, I promise you won't be disappointed.

  7. Q: What's your typical work process?

  8. A: I start with crafting the best song possible. Then move along to create a full production depending on what the client wants.

  9. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  10. A: I need to get a feeling for who they are as an artist. It will help tremendously when coming up with a sound for them.

  11. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  12. A: I've been doing music since I was 9 years old, learning how to play the guitar and write songs. I've since taken lessons in drums, bass and piano in all various styles as well. I started recording the bands I was in when I was 14 and fell in love with the process. I've graduated college with a certification in Studio Recording Technology and I've been doing this for a living the past 3 years!

  13. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  14. A: Make sure the song is great before anything else. You can press a great song into any style of production and it will always be great!

  15. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  16. A: I'm really good at pop music, I've studied the genre greatly! But I'm not afraid to do things that are outside of the pop world, such as Rock and Metal or Jazz and Latin.

  17. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  18. A: Resiliency! I won't stop until something sounds right! No matter what it takes!
