Studio Vocalist

Charmae on SoundBetter

My name is Charmae, I am a full-time freelance studio vocalist, live performance artist and audio engineer. All of my work is recorded in my professional production studio using high quality equipment. I have completed over a hundred vocal projects and have yet to disappoint. I love what I do and put my all into every single project!

Do you have an instrumental, lyrics and melody ready to go? Perfect! If not, I can help with that. Do you need your song/vocals professionally mixed? I can mix the vocals or I can provide dry vocal stems if you'd like to take care of the mixing yourself.

Tell me about your project and how I can help, through the 'Contact' button above.

Interview with Charmae

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I am proud of every project I do and always look forward to hearing the end result.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: My debut album :-)

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: Not currently.

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: I'm going to have to say both. Nothing beats that analog sound and I'm fascinated with the idea that the same sound wave can never be recreated (in analog) but I also love the creative freedom that comes with making music digitally.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: I promise that they will be pleased with the vocals I provide and I will work with them to ensure the best possible result.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: Singing has always been and always will be my passion. I feel truly blessed to do what I love for a living.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: They usually ask if I feel like I can sing their song- I tell them, "yes!'

  16. A: I don't commonly encounter people with misconceptions about my work.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: What kind of style/vibe would they like the song to have?

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Do your research to find the best fit for your project.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: Computer, microphone, interface, headphones and keyboard.

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I have been working as a session vocalist for 5 years and am the lead singer of 2 bands. I also produce music for other artists and shoot music videos.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: My ability to sing in multiple vocal styles.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: I have the ability to fully immerse myself in each and every song- I can sing any genre and ensure that the vocal style I use fits the song.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: Typically a client will send me as much info about the song as they can (demo, backing track, vocals) and I sing and record the track in my studio.

  42. A: A few of my inspirations are; Etta James, Amy Winehouse, Erykah Badu, Lauryn Hill, Alicia Keys, the list goes on... I also have a lot of respect for female artists that write and produce their own music. I believe its important to educate yourself as much as possible in many different aspects in music rather than focusing on only one thing.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: I provide top-notch vocals for full-length songs including backup vocals and harmonies- I also write lyrics and can professionally mix my vocals as well.
