My musical focus is to capture raw, passionate vocal and instrumental recordings to craft timeless, cinematic inspired indie-pop records. Bridging the words of instrumental and electronica, I produce, mix and master sound-worlds that enrich the story behind each individual vocal artists’ projects.
Beginning from a demo or from scratch, I am passionate about taking a song from its most raw, fundamental form, and collaborate on building sound worlds that respect the original song.
From production stage, come and hang with a coffee or tea in hand, and studio puppy Bonnie in your lap, as we workshop harmonies and rhythmic textures. As we track your vocals in the booth, I help coach you with my input on the desired emotional intent behind the delivery of each unique phrase to stay true to the song’s purpose.
Accompanied by a mix, focused on feel, clarity and depth, I’ll help your own unique sound inspired by songs from artists you love. Preparing it for a streaming-ready, radio-leave quality, I provide a final master that gives the song the desired polish, loudness and dynamics you desire.

Interview with Nathan Zammit - NZ STUDIOS
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I work on indie-pop, cinematic-pop, folk-pop and r&b on a good day.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I’m often told since I was young that I have a really good ear. Whatever that means? Anywho - what I think that means is that I work well on a feeling and intuition based approach to crafting sound. When sculpting instrumental / rhythmic / sound design based backing to a song, I draw from my background as a classically and jazz trained pianist, always balancing a sense of creative control over my work. Drawing from my experience of studying film composition and sound design, I always listen with an imaginative ear, always trying out unique ways to fill a soundscape.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Firstly, and most importantly, we must ask what the song is meaning to convey. The story behind it, the tone, and the emotional progression of the song. Then, we develop a Spotify playlist of the artists that we will reference for the arrangement, tone and vocal production style we’re after. Then, we begin the process of taking a track from demo-state by layering it with instrumental textures that enrich the meaning, and provide context for the lyrics and delivery of the lead vocals. We then spend a half to full day session on capturing and comping a lead vocal that seeks to serve as a ‘sound-polaroid’ your self / artist-self in the moment of your life you’re in. Then, either as a collaborative process, I will mix the song with care for each element, and upon approval of the mix, will master the track to give the final polish and loudness level appropriate to the release mediums your desire.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My studio is a relaxed, cozy Scandic-stylised room outlooking a garden front. Centralised on the control desk featuring dual speaker monitors and dual screens, the workspace can be configured for both production work or dedicated mixing work. The room has been been well acoustically treated to deliver an accurate, tonally neutral, balanced listening environment. On both flanks of the room feature a Yamaha U30A Upright, Korg Prologue Analogue Polyphonic Synthesiser and Nord Electro 4 Keyboard; used for creative keyboard explorations. I have a variety of premium orchestral virtual instruments, Cinematic Percussion VSTs and many more to give your songs some inspiring instrumental sounds. I have a pair of producer-favourite Audio Technica M50x headphones for tracking, and I use the Audeze LCD-X Over ear planar magnetic headphones in tandem with my monitors, especially for mix balancing and mastering work. With a curated selection of Neumann, RØDE and SE Electronics microphones, BAE (Neve) & Art Pro Audio Mic Pres, and a Tape machine, my studio has the fundamentals to produce, mix and master your next track.
