Jess Lom on SoundBetter

Who better to understand your studio needs than another musician? I have multiple credits on both sides of the glass and know what you need to get your music sounding as best as possible.

I'm Jess, and I've been playing music since 2001 and recording and mixing professionally since 2017. I have a BS in Music Technology and Composition from Northwestern University, and I'm based out of The Bridge Sound & Stage, an award-winning studio in the Boston area, where we run off a Pro Tools rig with a plethora of outboard gear, vintage mics and instruments, and more available.

I love capturing as close of an accurate recreation as possible of an artist's natural performance and elevating their performance when they're in the studio. Ultimately, however, I believe that you, the artist, have the final say in your music and want to help you share it with the world.

I'd love to hear about your project. Click the 'Contact' button above to get in touch.

Interview with Jess Lom

  1. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  2. A: My colleague and friend, Alex Allinson, is also on here!

  3. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  4. A: Why not both? At The Bridge, we run our signals through analog outboard gear into our digital converters to record in Pro Tools. Take the best of both worlds!

  5. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  6. A: I just love being a part of the creative process and guiding musicians to get the best representation of their sound possible.

  7. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  8. A: I graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in Music Technology and Composition, and from there I started interning at The Bridge Sound & Stage and worked my way up to studio manager and house engineer.

  9. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  10. A: Don't be afraid to do the "wrong" thing if it ends up being the right thing to do for the song.
